Nice, but id they could not mass produce it,it si still waste of money.
Apperently they are going to mass produce it and cut some parts out but I could be wrong.

I still hate the engines on that plane. does not match the rest of it.

Getting this thing into service makes the Russian Air Force a serious problem. Again, it's not an F-22, (I've even heard that it's no match for an F-35) but a 5th generation fighter stands head and shoulders over anything Europe has. A Rafale, Saab or Eurofighter is going to get chewed up and spat out.

Mostly do not matter.Germany and France are sallivating over comrade Putin and want made business with him and remove bad USA from Europe,so they would not fight Russia anyway.
Swedes could, but they would defend themselves,so Gripens on their own turf could do the job.
And Poland would have F.35.

Eh, France is being France and looking out for themselves militarily, even when they don't care for their people.
Germany and France are really becoming allies in the field of war.

Gripens last I checked are not 5th gen fighters

He both known that the F-22 is not as maneuverable as the Su-57, even if the difference is relatively small, and that the F-35 don't play in that game, by a long shot.
Real war - none of then as done anything serious, so no data.

Since when has it come out the F22 is less maneuverable? We will never know he full capabilities of the Raptor until it is old news.
The SU 57 will never be in enough numbers to make a difference either.

F-22 and F-35 are meant to be sneaky strike boys and data-link-scouts, not dogfighters; we have other planes for the dogfighting role.

The F-5 still exists, you know, and gave Soviets nightmares about getting into a dogfight with them. They never went away, and pretty fucking simple to maintain and repair.

As well as the F-15s of various makes, including the whole missile bus EX line, as well as F-16's of all shades of dart.

Oh, and they whole 'loyal wingman' thing as well.

Congrats on Russia achieving what we had like 10 years ago.

In the not so distant future - AKA maybe right now, planes can jam /spoof the two-way data-link between the firing plane and the missile, greatly reducing said missile capability. At same time they are equipped with DIRCM to play games with the seekers of IR missiles. Soon, you are reduced to return to the joys of dogfight and guns. Between advanced nations, is very possible to be a very soon reality. Today's RWR systems can detect the launch of a missile as soon as it his launched, so the stealth advantage is going smaller and smaller. And the need of maneuverability returning.

You act like the US hasn't taken this into account

Given the absolute state Russia was in back in the 1990s, that's vaguely impressive. The SU 57 is no game changer but it's a hell of a step up from the MiG-29.

That aside, name a European country that has produced its own 5th generation stealth fighter. I mean come on, is the Eurofighter, the Gripen or the Rafale going to stand up to an SU 57 with the kinks worked out?

Not sure about Grippen, which is more of a light economy fighter, but the gen 4.5 ones, if kept up with tech updates, quite possibly. The secret is in the missiles.
Rumors are that Su-57 is closer to F-35 level of stealth (if even there) than F-22, meanwhile look at what the French are scheming:
The Mica-NG model will incorporate new infrared-matrix sensors for better performance versus stealth fighters, carry additional propellant for longer range, and integrate internal sensors to reduce maintenance costs. Its dual pulse motor will allow it to accelerate just prior to detonation for a greater probability of achieving a kill.

I've always wondered in the back of my head if electronics will get to a point where all the extra costs of of physical stealth systems won't be worth it, since any modernish radar will see through it. Like how muskets led to 90% of soldiers abandoning armor as mostly pointless.

Don't really know enough to say.
