Just go with the broad strokes of canon and feel free to discard anything inconvenient or too silly for what you are trying to write. THis is fanfiction.

If you are saying TCW shouldn't be wholesale tossed out, I agree. You can always steal things that don't comply with Legends or treat it as a lower level of canon. Or can do things like keep Ashoka (but make her the Padawan of someone else), keep Separatist Senate (since it adds something), and things like that. Especially, since some of the humanizing moments for the CIS is in that series...well along with cackling villains.

Its not quite that simple. Still, given that the Republic and the Jedi will probably only be mentioned in this story, we shall see. Plus, even prior to TCW the CIS got some humanizing moments.

That said I am delighted that this little idea of mine is attracting at least some interest. Hopefully I’ll have more details to share soon.

I'm doing a series of Star Wars stories in the style of Marvel's What if: basically, small decision changes have big impacts. Here are some ideas.

What if Anakin took a drink?

What if Sidious Came Early?

What If Vader Raised Leia?

What if Vader Found out Leia Was His Daughter on the Death Star?

What if Vader Found Love Again?

What if Qui-Gon Survived?

What if Luke Fought Vader on Hoth?

What if Dooku Trained Anakin?

What if the Clones Were Enemies of the Republic?

What If Ben Kenobi Killed Vader?

What If Anakin Didn't Get Trained?

What if Grevious was a girl? (See Ronderu lij Kummar)

What If Dooku used himself as the Clone Template?

What if Darth Maul Turned from the Sith After Naboo?

What if Anakin pledged himself to Mother Talzin to save Padme?

What If Ahsoka redeemed Anakin on Malachor V?

just a handful of my ideas.
What if Vader landed his TIE Advanced on Yavin 4 after the Death Star blew up?

POSSIBLE CIS TECHNOLOGIES

The Providence-Class Dreadnought and the Subjugator-class heavy Cruiser

The 1-km enlarged version of the Providence-class cruiser might come about as a Confederate counter to larger Covenant vessels. Though I’ll probably come up with a unique class name to reflect the ship being it’s own class and larger size.

This might likewise apply to the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser (possibly changed to ‘Devastation-class’). As it would have the design used by the third Subjugator-class warship, the Devastation. That is, its main weapon would be mounted on the bow facing forward like the super-laser on the Imperial Eclipse and Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyers.

I’m not sure if the ship would keep its ion pulse cannon or more conventional energy weapons technology derived/modeled after Covenant.

Confederate Infantry Prototype
"These Geonosians have been working on a new Confederate infantry prototype. Destroy the schematics before they can use it to build a new droid army."
―An Imperial officer ( From Battlefront 2; 2005)

The Confederate infantry prototype was a model of battle droid. It was created by Gizor Dellso—a fugitive Separatist engineer who refused to surrender after the Confederacy of Independent Systems was defeated during the Clone Wars—and several fellow Geonosians, intending to add them to an army of reactivated battle droids in hopes of resurrecting the Separatist Droid Army. However, both the prototype's schematics and the hidden factory on the planet Mustafar where the droids were built were destroyed by the Galactic Empire's 501st Legion sometime between the years 18 and 12 BBY.

Could come about due to the technological exchanges with the UNSC or as a result of the CIS realizing they can't just grind the Covenant underneath their existing droid armies and wanting to come up with a better soldier. Or both.
  • Given how little is known of the design, I could have all sorts of fun with its design and capabilities.

Droid commando personal shield

While I’m leery of including the Droid Commandos into the story, as I would prefer to use organic troopers and/or Classic Legends droid models, I can easily see the CIS developing these personal shield devices. Probably to be used in conjunction with the Infantry Prototype droid described above.

As for why the CIS would develop such technologies, it would likely be in imitation and response to the similar shields used by Covenant Jackals. Both as a useful piece of technology that would increase the lifespan of droid and organic forces in battle against the Covenant’s shielded infantry (Jackals and Elites) that doesn’t require major design modifications to existing infantry droid types.

I'd like to add one, what if Dooku invoked the Rule of Two against his master at the start of Revenge of the Sith? While Palpatine is captive aboard the Invisible Hand, Dooku self-destructs the entire ship just before Anakin and Obi-Wan arrive, then activates the Order 66 manchurian killswitch in the clones so they and the jedi are crippled by infighting, leaving the droid army as the galaxy's strongest remaining military force and essentially winning the war for the Separatists.

Can't Order 66 only be activated by the Chancellor though?

I don't think any other way is ever mentioned but that would be a stunning oversight on Palpatine's part. He would need a fallback plan in case the Separatists win too well and he needs to switch into making them the "Winners" and build the empire for them instead, and/or in case he's ousted as Chancellor.

Yes.

All of the Contingency Orders were actually official, approved, things. They weren't secret backdoors, although whether or not the Jedi happened to see the Contingency Order list is another question (and even then, Dooku was the head traitor and he had been a respected Jedi Master so a contingency isn't unreasonable).

Although you might be able to justify it with Dooku having all of the relevant access codes so that he can effectively fake the order as coming from Palpatine.

He had one, it was called all of his blackmail files, agents, and no longer hobbling the CIS.

Remember that all of the CIS's military infrastructure was droid built, droid operated, and droid manned. The CIS was fully able to mine the raw materials, transport them, convert them into capital ships, and crew them all without a single organic involved in the process and could also operate in environments that everyone else considered extremely hostile.

Palpatine/Dooku had entire, massive, ghost fleets and all the needed infrastructure hidden away and operating but not being used in the war.

If Palpatine decided that the CIS needed to win then suddenly all of the corruption in the Senate is dumped on the public, critical personnel are assassinated, critical infrastructure is destroyed, and the CIS pulls out a fleet and army a hundred times larger than anything they had fielded up to that point - and stops sandbagging.

I knew the CIS was heavy 'droid'imated, but I thought they still needed oversight from organics.

I've not seen that in anything. Where are you getting that capability from?

Star Wars Idea:

A goa'uld appears in the Star Wars galaxy. But not just any goa'uld. Nope, someone woke up one day as the controlling consciousness of Hathor on the day of her awakening and (thanks in part to the goa'uld genetic memory) decided to go all galactic conqueror but with the benefit of having watched Star Gate.

"Hathor" naturally abuses that knowledge to her advantage and is winning hard until Anubis gets a wink and a nod from the Ascended to allow him to use a bit of his power and a routine trip through the Stargate results in "Hathor" arriving in the Star Wars universe.

Not exactly sure where in the timeline, my current thought is two to three centuries before Naboo.

"Hathor" does some body jumping to gain a firm knowledge base, including an Agri Corps Jedi (an Initiate who wasn't selected by a master), before heading to Alpheridies to take a young Miraluka as host. She heads to Lucazec and gets herself recruited into the Fallanassi to learn Force Immersion. Then it's off to pick up the Matukai way and learn from the Aing-Tii (seriously, Fold Space is like the best force power ever and Flow Walking is pretty great too) before returning back to Alpheridies to join the Luka Sene.

Then do a body jump into a young Miraluka who is destined for the Jedi.

Rise through the Jedi ranks, being a proper Jedi. Until you fake your death and take another body.

Start laying the groundwork for the Rebellion, until Anakin is about three or so when you body jack him. Try to keep canon largely on the rails (although being a somewhat more proper Jedi to reduce issues) until you join up with Palpatine after the Clone Wars start.

Let Palpatine do the job of establishing the Empire while learning all you can of the Sith/Dark Side, and then assassinate and replace him. Engineer the destruction of the Death Star before Alderaan or anything similar is done.

Now "Anakin" becomes Emperor and fixes it to be less pointlessly evil.

---
At least that's the basic idea. My biggest debate at the moment is how much SG to bring along and how useful to make the knowledge.

Because Stargate is so easy to abuse with out of universe knowledge and even the teensiest bit of agency.

For example, "Hathor's" host being a Near Ascended/Wraith Queen hybrid purpose designed and created from the ground up to play host to the goa'uld. With Asuran nano-tech inside her body to allow tech interfacing and act as armor. Along with Sodan cloak, phase shifting, and Ancient Personal shield.

Intriguing, but the entire Jedi order and Palpatine must be holding the idiot ball to miss two presences/soul inside a body

Force Immersion is about the most superb cloaking and concealment ability in all of SW.

Considering that Palpatine could pull off concealing himself from Yoda, it's really not an unreasonable supposition that "Hathor" could pull it off.

There is also the question of what exactly is being sensed. I mean a goa'uld can obliterate the consciousness of the host. So how one would appear to the Force is also somewhat debatable.

At least enough to make it "reasonable" for a story.

Problem is how to avoid being noticed during routine medical checks by the medical corps

As I said, Force Immersion is perhaps the best cloaking power in all of SW.

It specifically does deceive both technology and organic sensors. Force Immersion of yourself without the goa'uld and it won't show up.

So my interest here comes from working on an SI fic where the SI is dropped into the position, though not the body, of Darth Plagueis. And I want to be clear my version of Star Wars for that fic is actually taking the current discussion very seriously for what kind of setting the SI was dealing with.

So my SI pitch, as this is a nice active Star Wars thread. I'm using this jumpchain to build my SI. Also relevantly he took a supplement jump to try and blunt the impact of the Dark Side. This... didn't work too well and he got three years into his adventure before being assassinated and kicked back to Earth in a total failure that still left him ridiculously well off compared to his old life.

Now a half-crazy Sith with some Jedi teachings is stuck on Earth with his twin Twi'lek slave apprentices he bought as companions, a ton of Star Wars tech data he was preparing for his next jump anyway, an unarmed yacht star ship, and way more power for less of a price than most Sith could dream of due to jumpchain being a bit overly generous.

I am particularly curious on thoughts for what Star Wars tech diffusion would be doing, as that is one of the really interesting parts of the fic to me. Also the explosion of a barely-restrained Sith trying to manage in the real world and not go full Dark Lord despite honestly a lot of reason to.

Buba

A total creep
And then there's having to explain Twi-leks to the rest of humanity.
Well, Twileks make excelent bodyguards and bully boys with their muscular physics and high density bones. Having such two brutes along is understandeable, coming from a dangerous parallel universe.
Or he presents those two boys as some sort of experiment gone wrong - and points to Trump as the ultimatly responsible guilty party.
