Well, seeing as we have no Fanfic Ideas, Recommendations, and Discussions Threads yet, I decided to create one for Star Wars. The Legends timeline is ripe for plenty of fanfics after all.

Fanfics:
Old Man Luke by scarletjedi
Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?" He asked, hoping a direct question would yield answers. The old man seemed adept at side-stepping information when asked a bit more deftly. “I’ve never heard of a Master with your level of talent.”

The old man seemed surprised. “If you’ve never heard of one like me, then what good would my name be? You wouldn’t know it.”

Obi-Wan felt a flare of irritation, and quickly squashed it. The old man blinked, as if he hadn’t expected to feel that, and he smiled, sadly. “My name is Luke,” he said, as if a peace offering.

The force trilled in his ear, and Obi-Wan frowned. "Luke what?" He asked, and the old man, this Luke, smiled wryly.

"Luke Skywalker.”

As the title and summary imply, this fic is about ST Luke being present in the PT somehow. I have read only up to chapter 6, but I enjoyed it thus far.

This fic is a response to the Sequel Trilogy, and starts right after the end of "The Empire Strikes back". Luke is confronted by Ahsoka Tahno who offers to train him in Lightsaber combat to better prepare himself against the next duel with Darth Vader. I like it for its prose being good, and the exploration of what the trilogy might be like if characters from the EU were allowed to appear in the movies proper.

Err, I like this story, but I will be the first one to admit that it can be fairly depressing with many characters falling left and right, and the state of things being worse for the subjects of the Empire. Mostly because the kaminonians decided to rise against Palpatine and field their own clone army along with cloned Jedis (many of whom are characters from the Legends EU). It is still worth a read.

Silbing Revelry by frodogenic
After Bespin and before Endor, Darth Vader is shocked to discover that Luke and Leia are twins. He's even more shocked when Imperial Intelligence reports that Organa and Skywalker are, erm, a tad closer than previously suspected. Humor, mild AU.

To finish the fanfic recommendations on a lighter note, I present Silbing Revelry, a comedy where Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker learns of the relationship between Luke and Leia, and promptly panics because they seem to be much closer than it is proper for silbings. Thus he tries to prevent that from happening by running schemes and plans to keep them seperated. Meanwhile, the silbings learn on their own, but Vader doesn't realize this. It was fairly amusing last time I've read it, I really should read it again.

Ever wished Luke did something before A New Hope? Padme, Anakin, and even Leia did some pretty impressive stuff before they were nineteen years old. But Luke? According to canon he was playing with his space ship models and blasting Womp Rats in his Skyhopper. To be fair, there isn't much to do on Tatooine. Or is there?

In this quest, the readers participate in the rise of Luke Skywalker as the administrator of Tatooine and later the system it is placed in.
The prose is good, the rolls are ridiculously good, and the author prefers to draw on the Legends Expanded Universe rather than the ST.
Still, I'd like to read a omake where the Mandalorian (from the show) visites Tatooine, just to see the contrast between each incarnation.

Vader's Vacation by Quasispatial
It has been a number of years since the fall of the Republic; since the rise of the Empire.

You are Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith and Supreme Commander of the Imperial military. You are feared throughout the galaxy, and rightly so, for many a Jedi, many a Rebel have fallen to your crimson blade. You also have a slight, very minor problem. After a certain incident involving a bioweapon, yourself and a number of civilian transports, you have caused a bit of a setback for several of your master's schemes. In an attempt to get you out of the way for a while (and to try to pacify an increasingly begging-to-be-strangled senate), His Majesty has given you a deceptively simple command.

You are to take a... vacation.

Sadly a dead quest, the readers take on the mantle of Darth Vader who has been ordered by Palpatine to take a vacation. The readers immedially voted for Alderaan. It only got more interestening from there, and despite the temptation of making the quest crack, the author took an effort to portray the choices and plotline in a serious way.

And since this is a discussion thread too, I want to share my idea of marginally improving Ben Solo:

Instead of panicking when Luke stands over him with his lightsaber drawn, Ben fell because he believed that his grandfather failed to finish off the Sith for good. Thus the line "I will finish what you've begun." The reason he fell to the Dark Side anyway was because he was consumed by fear and hatred against the very idea of Sith, something Snoke exploited to push him steadily towards the dark side.

Then one day, Snoke destroyed the new jedi temple and claimed a new group of Sith that have infiltratred the New Republic to be responsible. Ben, delirious from grief and shock over that supposed reveal, joins the First Order with the goal to use said Order to crush the NR and drag the Sith out into the light so everyone can see they were deceived.

Any idea what I could do better with this?

So what do people think of the New Sith Wars?

Personally I think its a fertile era for fanfics.

A cracky idea I've had...

A LSF Revan placed herself and her closest allies in force stasis, sensing that someday she'll be needed... and wakes up deep beneath the Jedi Temple right at the start of the Phantom Menace. Fast forward a little as events play out as in the movie, but when Qui-gon brings Anakin to the Council a section of wall slides open, revealing a long-concealed door and Revan strides out in full armor, wearing her mask, and looking terribly ominous. When the Council starts to object, a portion of the floor in front of Yoda folds open and a pair of lightsabers fly to Revan's belt, instantly recognizable to Yoda at least as sabers with the Mantle of the Force and Guardian of the Force crystals. And Revan declares that *she* will train the boy, ignoring any protests, objections, or opposition.

Woah. That's practically ancient history. The origin of the Rule of Two, the Reformations that led to the Jedi Order becoming as we saw them in the PT, the state of the Republic, all that can be traced back to the outcome of said war.

Why stop there? Let's throw the exceptional individuals of the KotOR at the PT, including the PCs from TOR.

It's also one of the most grimdark periods in SW Legends.

The republic basically collapses at one point, the Jedi have to rule as feudal lords to protect the people, technology regressed or plateaued and warfare was basically endless, and yeah it was instrumental to the "modern" galaxy being founded.

So I planned on doing this on SB-but I got banned so my enthusiasm deflated like a balloon impaled by a sharp knife, but I haven’t forsworn the concept.

Basically a Star Wars Invincible AU.

Caedus Victorious.

Basically Caedus manages to kill his sister at Nickel One and avoid assassination, and retreats to Coruscant, due to sustaining severe injuries. From there it’s a quest to ensure his vision prevails, and to see Allana Djo Solo-seated on the throne of balance whatever the cost.

The question I would aim to ask, “shall we do evil that good may come?”

Hrm, Caedus and Djo Solo don't see eye to eye, only working with each other to secure their own plans for the Republic. What's stopping the latter from trying to make a martyr out of Darth Caedus? What will the new jedi order do next? The civil war within the republic can't be easily waved away either.

There's a lot of story potential here.

Allana is the Djo Solo I mean here.

Not Tenel Ka, but yeah the war will continue.

Is there some confusion here?

I was referring to Caedus' daughter who is a girl of around five in Invincible.

An decent idea of mine as related to a possible star wars fanfiction would be the New Republic's Fifth Fleet circa just before the Black Fleet Crisis being sent back in time to the canon universe just outside the Naboo System a couple days after the Trade Federation starts its invasion.

That's interesting.

I'd say they probably don't realize they are in a different universe. At least its going to take a long time.

They probably intervene, and the republic gets involved.

Things go from there, well up to the writer's imagination.
