Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

Genetic evilutionary scientist types who believe they're the pinnacle of evolution. They genetically engineered a slave race out of their own genestock. They keep their slave race, the offshoots, under control by regularly releasing bioweapons to cull the population.

Rather notable for being so evil Arkoh Adasca managed to get the Mandalorians and Jedi to join forces to destroy him... during the Mandalorian Crusade when both sides were at each other's throats and the bitterest of enemies.

Arkanians are basically the Draka if you take away their massive character shields, increase their intelligence significantly, and have the rest of the galaxy act appropriately to them.

the Jedi protected them?

And Yoda declared war against their slave races in order to protect these abominable butchers due to their existence being "the status quo". Keep in mind Tarkin was the only imperial fucked up enough to work with any of them.

Keep in mind as well, that a.member of the high council belonged to a species the Arkanians created solely because they thought his parent species was "impractical" at the time all this happened I believe.

Bottom line being the Jedi completely lost its soul under Yoda.

Arkoh Adasca's time was in the late 3900s BBY, basically the same period as Revan. He was evil enough that his actions made the Jedi who were fighting the Mandos during that great war decide to ally together against him instead.

Jedi protecting the Arkanians came from the modern Clone Wars era Jedi, around 50BBY. The Arkanians were up to their old tricks when a group of Arkanian scientists, fed up with the violations of all ethics and common sense, rebelled.

The Jedi stopped the rebels and helped the old-school Dr. Mengele class Arkanians maintain power which... isn't a good look for them.

How the hell did this happen? How did the following generations of Jedi, no, the civilizations of the galaxy look at the deeds of them and think "Yup, senate-material!"? Then again, the status quo is less painful than attempting to fix such things.

The galaxy is a big place and people had bigger fish to fry or just didn't really care about the Arkanians?

In the name of Galactic stability! Protect these genocidal mad scientists we must! As two thousand years of Jedi before us have! - Yoda probably.

This is an example of why the Jedi are to be best understood as an institution. And part of the galactic power structure.

Which does nothing to invalidate my point about the Jedi being monstrously corrupt and blasphemous against their own creed

Same reason the Senate had dictators and Royalty and called it democracy lol

They were just another fish in an ocean

I mean, the situation with the Kaleesh and Yam'rii is even worse. The Yam'rii enslaved and tortured the Kaleesh and then began systematically destroying their burial grounds and sacred places, among numerous other atrocities. Oh yeah, and they ate the Kaleesh's young just in case you were wondering if there was anything less than horrifying about them. The Kaleesh rebelled and their best general started actually winning fights and even took their homeworld back, so the Yam'rii went crying to the Republic Senate and, you guessed it...

The Jedi showed up and murdered the hell out of the Kaleesh for daring to want to not have their children eaten and their burial grounds desecrated. The Kaleesh general, who barely survived, turned into Grievous and, frankly, it's not that surprising that he had such a hateboner for the Jedi after that.

The Republic had some serious, serious issues with what they allowed to be member states and how they acted.

If there's one good thing out of this mess, it's that one general of the Kaleesh managed to rally his people during the Clone War, invaded the colony of Oben, wiped the colonists out, and made it their new homeworld. The insects themselves were forced into obscurity and their holdings reduced to just their origin planet.

Considering the description of their behaviour in the galaxy, it's a shame Grievious never got around to glassing that planet too.

Look at some of the Twitter posts in this video, you know I don't think SJWism is a sinister agenda, as much as it is just spite given form.

"Haha SW is for girls now". As if-it was a cherished playground toy taken away from clique one and given to clique two.

Let's see these comments she made in Variety...

Leslye Headland said:
"I think white women need to kind of step up their game, to be quite honest. Sorry, but I’m calling you bitches out. You really do. ‘Cause like, I couldn’t agree more with everything these women are saying, but I’m also seeing the silent killer, which is a lot of white women at the top who are kind of reinforcing a lot of old ideas.”

...

“I wasn’t sure how to be an ally. I got so caught up in what kind of terminology I was supposed to be using, and being politically correct. And as I started to rise in television I started to get more blunt and start saying like ‘I would like a black writer.’”

“Because if I said diverse, you get ‘well, white is diverse,’ which is something somebody said to me. … I reached out to the women that I respect who are not white writers and directors and I said ‘what should I say? What language should use?’ And I think it’s worth it if you’re in a position of hiring power or green-lighting power to reach out to people that are not like you and say, ‘what can I do to be an ally? And how can I support writers of color and LGBTQ and disabled writers?’”

...

“I find it a lot as a gay woman, with gay characters, whether they be gay men or gay women, where I’m saying, ‘that’s not a gay person.’ You basically want me to cast someone that you find attractive, straight white man.”

In another interesting tidbit it appears Headland has deleted much of her Twitter profile. The account was originally created in 2013. The oldest tweet that is publicly available is from March 27, 2020.

According to Social Blade it looks like she deleted around 2,500 tweets in early July 2019 and around another 2,000 at the beginning of June 2019. With the deletions she only has 93 tweets currently available on her profile.

Hmmmm….

You know-if she really believed all this, she would stand proudly by every tweet.

But yeah, what a bitch.

God, I can't wait for the Clone Wars series to be done, just so I can stop having it recommended to me by Google. Everyone kisses Filoni's ass because he made Disney SW content that doesn't blatantly suck, forgetting that ~75% of his Star Wars career has been him fawning over his shitty living plot hole of an OC. I used to be pretty ambivalent about Ashoka, but the more I'm forced to see and hear her the more I resent her existence, almost as much as I resent the fact that Maulaboos are now a thing.

Also, obligatory reminder that Darth Maul was never interesting.
