Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

Dude, Anakin is a teenager. A teenager with serious problems.

Like fuck, Hayden's acting wasn't always stellar but people don't actually pay attention to how Anakin is actually portrayed and why he has the issues he does.

He's arrogant and confident in his own abilities, feels that Obi Wan isn't the most sympathetic of mentors, and has visions of people he loves dying.

Like-damn people expected Anakin to be...what?

Fact is, he became a Jedi when he was too old.

Anakin was a emo bitch raised by warrior monks who probably never allowed him the personal space needed to masturbate, let alone develop as an individual. Besides bad dialogue, the problem with the prequels is the time skip between episodes 1 and 2. If he had been a little younger than Luke and jumped straight into a protracted war instead of fucking about chasing sith Holocrons, monsters of the week and diplomatic chores for a decade, they could have done a lot with his character. It was poorly executed from the start, no bitching about filoni or Disney can change that. People ironically like episode 2 and parts of three like they enjoy the Rocky horror picture show

Okay, that right there shows that arguing with you is literally a waste of my time.

I really am not in the mood to argue about the prequels.

Anakin was a pretty horrible character, but those defects of character could have been channelled into something constructive or mitigated had Yoda and the rest of the High Council not been such moralizing autists.

So I ascribe more blame to the adults in the room who weren't suffering from an attachment disorder of some kind born out of being a slave than the kid who spent the final decades of his life in a suit larping.

Leia's kids have no such excuse though.

cough Darth caedus/jaina almost going evil after hanging out with bugs then ditching the Jedi in order to form imp knights

also Anakin literally hung out with palpatine on Tuesdays and could have just sent a space email to one of several hundred people who owed him a favor on naboo. he didn't free his mom because he wanted to fit in with the Jedi and took her don't look back advice way too seriously.

Jaina was, the least retarded of the three and she was still basically a dudebro trapped in the body of a supermodel. I liked the character though, at least I understood why the character was what she was.

Probably shouldn't have mothered a dynasty in her forties though...the Fel Empire had more brain issues than the House of Yamato does and they're the Hapsburgs of Asia. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

she literally fought Jacen's attempt for security apparatuses to be routed directly through him then turned around and immediately routed all force users I'm her jurisdiction through her personal security detail. Also all you guys bitching about feminists don't remember the Hapan royal family, Alana is literally supposed to be a Jedi Queen sitting on a throne of balance

I like the concept of Allana as a mystical chosen queen of prophecy personally.

I never said the EU didn't have its problems with feminist nonsense.

My issue with Nu Wars is how its degenerate, genital mutilation championing, infantile drek.

It's just chosen one shit again and again and again and again and again

Not precisely, because Allana's prophecy is...well a lot more specific and inherently political in its content.

Hmm, I would argue it bears an inherent elitism.

I don't care about the shade, bald faced ignorance is what grates my gears.

You spazzed so hard that you thought I was talking about Allana when I just ignored all the Hapan shit because it bored me and so avoided talking about it entirely.

Yeah, you're definitely rustled about my thinking Jacen shoulda been spaced at birth :ROFLMAO:

Hmm...……..

The Jedi Council is the head of a religious order. Anakin often went against that. They were displeased, this increased his resentment.

Like...do you get in the slightest degree how the Jedi are supposed to be understood? They are an institution, with institutional norms and values. Anakin transgresses these norms and chafes under them.

Man, it's almost like Lucas was making a huge point about the dangers of rigidity and fanaticism and moral absolutism? If only there was an intense sequence of self reflection where Yoda, broken, chastened and humbled is forced to admit his hubris, sanctimony and certitude condemned the Galaxy to darkness and snuffed out the order of champions he'd been shepherding for nearly a thousand years...which would back up my point...

Oh wait...that exists, because that's the exact point Lucas was making. The Jedi had a force of corruption, idolatry and impiety under a mask of heroism...

As @Guy of Z is so fond of pointing out..any organization that defends the Arkanians is morally no better than the Sith.

who are the arkanians?

who are the arkanians?
Genetic evilutionary scientist types who believe they're the pinnacle of evolution. They genetically engineered a slave race out of their own genestock. They keep their slave race, the offshoots, under control by regularly releasing bioweapons to cull the population.

Rather notable for being so evil Arkoh Adasca managed to get the Mandalorians and Jedi to join forces to destroy him... during the Mandalorian Crusade when both sides were at each other's throats and the bitterest of enemies.

Arkanians are basically the Draka if you take away their massive character shields, increase their intelligence significantly, and have the rest of the galaxy act appropriately to them.
