Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

CR-90s, and most of it's variants, were closer to coast guard cutters than PT boats, and a few were even Midget Carriers.

Skipray's are PT boats.

Call it what you will, my point was basically that "small ship, big guns" was a part of the WW2 paradigm that SW draws on.

Honestly, I don't think that hanger system would be all that workable, simply because there's no good way to recover the fighters. I also think that even with it being a bigger ship that they are overestimating the amount of space that's actually available there.

Presumably the plan would be to hyperdrive out of the area, and the slowly recover the fighters out of combat rather than trying to do so mid-fight.

EC Henry, the guy that modelled the ship, has actually done this stuff professionally (he's worked on STO designing a number of ships there) so I would assume that if he says "the fighter bay I modeled fits on the ship that I also modeled" then he is correct and the bay fits.

So I never knew that it was made retroactive canon that Rex was at Endor.
So yeah, one of the most loved characters from the clone wars series, survived until Endor

Yet you can see the 4 escape pods extending from where hangar is supposed to be in the video thumbnail.

Three new games in development by Electronic Art's Respawn Entertainment, the same guys who made Fallen Order and abandoned Titanfall. :p

Pirates And Princesses said:
1 – A sequel to the 2019 The Jedi: Fallen Order. Players will once again play as Cal Kestis as he battles against the Empire and avenging his fallen Jedi comrades.

2 – An unnamed first person shooter. Since the developer is known for the Titanfall series and the popular Apex Legends online shooter it should be a fun experience with the amount of expertise this developer has.

3 – An unnamed Real Time Strategy game. The game will be co-developed with Firaxis Games, a studio made up of former developers on the popular Civilization and XCOM games. With the experience these developers have it will hopefully be a fun experience.

I'm super excited about once against being able to pick up a lightsaber and run around doing absolutely nothing of any real consequence or significance in the setting, that'll be great.

More seriously, the RTS sounds neat, though I'm not sure why they're going with Firaxis vs, say, Petroglyph.

Yeah RTS is a biiiiiiiiig category. But nothing that Firaxis is particularly known for since their biggest franchises are turn based 4x strategy Civilization games and the turn based tactical XCom games which, in all honestly, would sound amazing if done Star Wars style. But what do I know? 🤷‍♀️

They may be going for a Civ style Star Wars semi-turn based RTS, using the tile systems they have for Civ 6.

I think the bigger issue beyond twenty year old Versus Debates about yields is about how we're basically going to have two Mandalorian episodes in the first seven episode long Boba Fett series and how this latest episode was considered the best by many Star Wars fans and are genuinely looking forward to seeing the next Mandalorian focused episode.

I saw Eckharts Ladder, Thor Skywalker and Star Wars Theory in Reaction videos all praising this episode as what they wanted and how much they loved this episode and only one of them acknowledged that this is supposed to be about Boba Fett substantially (other two mentioned it in passing).

It's a pretty big deal if Boba Fett is playing second fiddle in a third of his own series to a completely different character, show and storyline and the show is so disappointing that the fans want more of it.

The writers don't have the stones to make Boba Fett act like Boba Fett, which is why the show is disappointing. It was a big bloody mistake to have Boba become a Crime Lord, when letting him get back to his bounty hunting ways not only is more in line with the character, but gives more opportunity to show the post war galaxy.

Also, have Timothy Zahn write the scripts. He's literally the only adult in the room when it comes to story telling (he avoid cringe Marvel humour, isn't a complete child like Filoni, and seems to be the only person that remembers stormtroopers are trained soldiers) at Lucas Film.

Yeah, this is really weird. I wonder if they actually planned to release Mando S03 earlier, concurrent with the Boba Fett series, but faced delays because of corona. That would explain why they just dumped Mando stuff into this series. "Shit, we've already plotted this out, but one of the series is delayed. How do we fix this?"

My favourite Boba Fett will always be the one from The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett. That's a 1996 short story by Daniel Keys Moran. It was written before the prequels, and gives him a way different backstory. It also makes him both ruthless and gives him a really strange code of ethics (imagine if Javert was a bounty hunter instead of a policeman).

Best of all, the story ends with Han Solo and Boba Fett facing off one last time, in 18 ABY. Han wants to just call it quits, but Fett insists they "let fly" and see who's the last one standing. And it ends there, without showing us the outcome.

The EU later brought Fett back, but for a while there, all we knew was that the chronological follow-up was Spectre of the Past. In which Han is very much alive. The implication being that Han straight-up killed Boba Fett in that duel.
