EU SHOCKING! Polling Indicates Many Western Europeans Dislike the USA!

Odd that Sweden is the furthest eastern extent of "europe" in this poll...

And we care about what the idiots in Western Europe think about us...why exactly?

The Euros, besides Poland, need to piss off.

The fact that we fought the Cold War in large part to keep the big red soviet boot heel off of their throats disgusts me.

The Western Europeans deserved the soviets, change my mind.

Honestly, it's a fair result. A lot of Europeans who like the US emigrate.
Besides, this is the usual suspects of Europe. Frankly? I'm more interested in what sentiment about the US is in Finland, Poland and the Baltics, Hungary, Ukraine, and Czechia and Slovenia than I am 'Western Europe' that's full of snobby-Frogs and, worse, Belgians.

I mean I happen to know a few Gemrans who like the US, generally ones around the bases. Though they are kicking us out sooo

TBF, I think to varying degrees this is also a sort of socioeconomic class issue

Plenty may actually miss you guys, probably helps you're amongst the saner people to talk to

This pole isn't shocking Europeans and Americans have been drifting apart since the cold war ended.

The war on terror made things even worse, with americans feeling betrayed why?

this picture gets worse.

Of the countries in the coalition of the willing only 3 actually sent troops to help out with the Invasion.

The UK, Australia, and Poland.

Now I understand why the Europeans didn't want to get involved in the war on terror, why they didn't want to get involved in Iraq. It was an expensive and bloody campain and no one wants to get involved in that, but from the American perspective this is what happened.

American defended their Nato allies, they defended their trade on a global level, America gave them aid to rebuild and opened their markets so they could export themselves back to affluence. We spent a little over 40 years staring down the soviet union on their behalf. Then when the soviet threat went away we continued to fight to secure their oil and access to international trade free of charge.

Then the moment America needed help these allies? No where to be found.

There was going to be a price for that and America is withdrawling its support.

The UK has enough leverage and goodwill to get a trade deal, its going to be a harsh one because we honestly feel like they wasted our time by doing this will they wont they bullshit with Brexit and because they put off the deal further with covid but their going to be saved from having a depression.

Australia already has a trade deal and protection, the Ozzy's are bros.

Poland...the poles are smart, they managed to secure a base, and some troops to hopefully keep the Russian bear at bay until it collapses and keep Germany out for a bit. They have favors owed and they will be paid back. Every one else? On their own.

That's because America is "killing children for oil" (even though the war in Iraq in reality wasn't about oil and the US didn't get any oil out of it), which is "evil and not a reason to go to war" (even though oil is literally what keeps millions around the world from freezing to death in winter, so it's objectively super valuable and worth fighting over since oil=life).

Remember, these are the same guys who think that allowing businesses to be open would be bad and motivated by greed more than any degree of practicality

I heard the same sort of shit from my family who frequently watches CNN and other dumb news channels and magazines that try going and sounding all "intellectual" and "compassionate" whilst never truly being either like those sorts of lines you mentioned

I agree! But probably not in the manner that you intended.

Something about Europe being more “enlightened”, “old”, “intellectual”, “worldly” and “urbane” compared to the mongrel Americans

Ya know what, fuck those guys, especially the ones with Posh British Accents
I think the roots of this are a bit more complex. The two major factors, I believe, are the disintegration of the American union movement and accompanying Reaganite ultraliberal economic policy, and the currents of polarization in American politics leading to American conservatism being dominated by more and more extreme policy.
