BBC said:Mr Macron is not the only leader to have been subjected to the Kremlin's "long-table" diplomacy - earlier this year, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi were also seen sitting at a distance from Mr Putin during their visits to Moscow.
However, only three days after meeting Mr Macron, Mr Putin hosted Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The pair shook hands and sat with a small coffee table between them.

They are getting uppity lately, so they need to be put back in their place.
They don't want to be State Department canonfodder, Zelensky said several times that USA is creating war hysteria out of nothing.
Neo-Realist answer: The USA can not tolerate a near-peer competitor, neither if it is a single country, nor if it is an effective group of countries. It would be an ideological and geo-political anathema. Why exactly would the CIA want to alienate a bunch of friendly hohols by doing this? What if the truth will eventually come out?
The USA can not tolerate near peer competitors or groups of countries that can run in opposition to its hegemony. Is there any other reason to make up such bullshit for media?
USA needs an excuse to slap sanctions on Russia and cut the natural gas supplies to Europe, so they themselves can then sell it to EU at massive markup.
The USA - maybe not, I doubt they will be able to fill all teh demand, but the Persian Gulf totalitarian monarchies are a different story entirely. They are getting uppity lately, so they need to be put back in their place.
When and where exactly did he say that? And doesn't he still want Ukraine to join NATO?
Well, the cards are on the table now.U.S. officials fear Putin to invade Ukraine next week
The United States believes Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to invade Ukraine and has communicated those plans to the Russian military, Western and defense officials have told the PBS NewsHour.www.pbs.org
If the CIA can fake up a full scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian military, we might as well pack it up because everyone else is controlled opposition after all.So one week until CIA carries out it's false flag operation?
Germany by itself isn't a near peer competitor to the USA unless perhaps you're focused on a specific industry. The EU would hypothetically be a peer competitor but it's far too feckless an entity for the USA to bother playing these games when they are on such (relatively) good terms and the USA could be spending its energy on undermining China or whoever else. The USA can not tolerate near peer competitors or groups of countries that can run in opposition to its hegemony.
A Germany with access to lots of cheap energy and good relations with Russia is just one [more] potential peer-competitor, it would also strengthen the EU and undermine NATO.
