There is no tourism in China for the last two years. The games were accepted eight years ago and due to kung-flu will be a considerable financial loss.

Olympics and similar events of international note are, for all commie countries in history, a massive show-off of the party's glory, for domestic and international purposes alike. That's what they care about. That's why they pursue opportunities to participate in, win and host such events so hard in the first place. If anything, for such purposes they care more than normal countries, because for normal countries it may well be a different party in charge when the event happens, there are private person/business achievements to be proud of, and so on.
It gives the Chinese a chance to show they are the best, by hosting and winning at the games.
Not just the Chinese, but the Israelis as well.

I'm pretty well convinced at this point there will be no war unless Ukraine escalates in the Donbass-both the LPR and DPR have been saying this for at least a couple of weeks now is their expectation-or NATO does some obvious fuckery with Ukraine, like stationing combat forces or something.
Maybe, though having Russia move a lot of blood to the Ukrainian border isn't exactly a good sign. If it's an attempt at a bluff, it's sure as Hell an expensive one.

Outside of the media claiming it, there hasn't been any corroborating information and they are holding larger exercises in Belarus; training accidents are rather common, so it could also be a small supply for that purpose that has been blown out of proportion. Certainly the Ukrainians themselves aren't freaking out about it, and the Germans are not directly saying they don't see anything either nor has the United States shared any evidence with them.
I'm trying to figure out if the lack of Ukrainian concern is due to a genuine lack of fear or due to them not wanting to panic their population. That said, though, Russia won't be able to reverse Ukraine's westward drift by just sitting around. Unless, of course, Ukraine's westward drift isn't actually as bad for Russia as Russia itself claims it is.
At this point I'm looking more at what Ukraine thinks and does, rather than what any other nation claims.
There are too many conflicting interests in the West and Russia with regards to the Ukraine for me to trust any source at this point.
Also, we need to see what the 4-party talks between Ukraine, Russia, Germany, and France turn out. The US being left out of those talks is part of why I am not really trusting any US source with regards to Ukraine.
I'm even wondering if the blood movement thing really is just for the training exercise, not an invasion.
Too many people in power in the West have ulterior motives for trying to hype up the situation to distract from domestic issues.
And given how the Biden Admin seems to have decided to try to screw with the Ukrainian pres out of revenge for embarrassing Biden in that phone, I do not trust any of DC's views or rhetoric around this.
