Rush Limbaugh has passed

I think what unsettled most people about Rush Limbaugh was that he was completely unapologetic about his viewpoints. He based them generally off common sense and logic and combined that with the historical evidence that 200 years of our Republic gave him.

He had no problem calling out stupidity. That made some people uncomfortable.

Rush was also very comfortable talking to people with differing points of view, and would attempt to show them what conservative values really meant, not what the Left said they meant.

That didn't change through all the years of his broadcasting.

I know plenty of people on here would claim he was all about "common sense" and "logic" simply because they agreed with him on basically everything, but those aren't words that come to mind when I think of him. And you have to keep in mind that I used to be a religious conservative as a young adult, but I still never much cared for him.

That's OK, I'm not saying you're wrong to not like him.

Just my viewpoint of his general manner. And yes, I had to turn him off sometimes b/c he was very much assured of his own ideas. I think the big difference between Rush and almost all of the Left's idealogues is that he really had exercised a LOT of investigation and self examination of his view points.

In most cases on the left, they won't even listen to an alternate view point or logical contention.

He could certainly be abrasive, and frankly, later in his career, I preferred it when some of the guest hosts were doing the show.

That doesn't change that he was right about just about everything, and he had done the legwork to be able to explain why to you.

The way I see it: both conservatives and liberals agree upon personal freedom for all.

The major difference is that conservatives like things the way they are and are sceptical of change while liberals think things could be better and do want change.

The far edges of both sides wrap around to the same thing: here's how it's going to be and if you don't like it then you deserve to rot in a prison cell.

Limbaugh was towards that end of the spectrum from what I remember before I tuned him out.
That's not how I see it at. In my experience, most people only think their own personal freedom matters; everyone else can go suck eggs, for all they care.

I enjoy X-rated humour which can not be shared here.

Whenever one of my posts gets a "HaHa" rating I'm a bit confused because I wasn't trying to be funny.
OK, then I'm just going to assume that his humor flew over your head. XD

Sometimes people are laughing at you rather than with you. ;)

As for me, I never much cared for him, and found him really disagreeable in his heyday. He had that same sense of smug superiority I hate about leftists. Other than that, I couldn't tell you specific points I disagreed with him on because I honestly just ignored him and basically forgot about him as much as I could. The only thing I really remember is disagreeing with him on the nature of homosexuality and gay rights.
Same here. All that bluster and braggadocio was part of the joke. "Fighting the Left with my brain tied behind my back just to make it fair." and "Whatever you call him, he's right!" was all smack talk. You could tell from the way he interacted with callers that he wasn't nearly as smug as many of the lefties are. He talked to them as if they were fellow human beings, always. And he kept doing the show long after he could have quit and coasted for the rest of his life on the adoration.

Optymist.Problem with leftist is,that they care about our freedom - precisely, they care to take our freedom from us for our own good, becouse they knew better what to do with it.
We would not be in current shit if leftist was only corrupted assholes - unfortunatelly, they want best for us.
