Politicians and Government Cringe Thread

The improvement needs to continue, though; we can't let the monopoly grow stronger.

Also, didn't know that about Rush -- you learn something new every day. :)

The reason they hated him, and never, ever could let up on the slander and lies about him, was because he broke the monopoly. He also single-handedly revitalized AM radio, and became the single most successful radio personality in history. He was on hundreds of stations across the country, sometimes multiple in the same area.

He had like forty million daily listeners.

Once radio streaming over the internet became a thing, you started getting people around the world tuning in.

Yeah, a lot of times (not pointing out anyone here, this is a more general statement) one sees a bad situation that's newly exposed to the public, and logically concludes that the situation is now getting worse because it's now noticeable, where previously it hadn't been. But frequently, the problem was worse, just so bad it wasn't even noticeable from the background. Independent media is a big example of this. Another is cop abuse (as it's now videotaped). Basically, things can look like they are getting worse while actually getting better.

Well its more complicated then that because now the establishment is panicking and cracking down abusing their power in a way they didnt' before in order to maintain their power. I mean were already at the point in time when the left is prety much openly trying to throw their political optasition into prison.

All while pretending to 'defend democracy'.

Were pretty much at the point where the discontent can no longer be papered over and things are getting worse to the point where people just cant ignore it anymore.

To be fair it does happen on the Republican side as well. Just not as much
It's the difference between a rotting, festering turd filled with maggots and a stale, untouched turd.

Both are disgusting, but one is far worse.

The Republicans aren't saints (and some of their policies are abhorrent to me personally), but the Democrats are fucking evil across the whole board.

Wow, Trump really isn't drawing the crowds like he used to.

Last three years he's been largely out of the public eye. People have had to look to other to inspire, he doesn't have that same level of monopoly as he did before. Also, because there are others, he may not be as inspiring to the masses as he was before, in a relative sense. If DeSantes has a better message then he's going to have a bigger draw.

Dubya did that sort of shit too back in his day aka paying lip service to the Christian groups.
Yep.

This might be just basically be a "how do you do, fellow teens?" op to make the masses think he's like Trump on certain issues/moral stances, while in reality it's just a dog and pony show.

There's a chance it might work.
Uh, please, find me another politician who has dared to go against the Mouse openly, publicly, and meaningfully the way DeSantis has already done.

I have seen no evidence DeSantis is the 'uniparty trojan horse' that so many keep implying he is.
