I get the feeling that due to the time period in which they existed in most of the shipgirls would be rather conservative by today's standards no matter the nation they come from.

In someways, probably. In other ways, probably more 'progressive' (in the good sense, not the stupid) than normal 1945 America. The military was more integrated than the US at the time, though it was not fully integrated until 1948. Also, there were a number of gay service members as well that no one much cared about.

There's a funny story that Eisenhower found out that there were a lot of lesbians in the WACS and other female military groups, and wanted a list typed up so that they could be discharged. Immediately a nearby WAC said that she'd be at the top of the list, but then was told by Eisenhower's secretary that "You'll be second, I'm typing the list." Thus ended the campaign to get lesbians out of the WAC.

There weren't many women on the non-hospital ships though (if any), as far as I know, so that wouldn't make sense.

But yeah, they probably observed a ton of male gay sex.

I'd think that the overwhelming majority of them would ummm delete that portion of their mental logbooks as soon as they could. And before you say they can't Magical Sparkly Shipgirl B.S.

It is a shame, we need a large navy, especially to protect our internal waters from interlopers...including the USA, since you seem to be under the delusion that water in Canada's vulnerable North is somehow international waters.

Sad fact you guys did want to build a class of SSNs in the 80s(with 10 planned and options for 2 more) only for the US government to screw over any attempt to get reactors(or their designs) from the US, France, and the UK with the Cold War ending before any real progress could be made on a Canadian designed reactor thus ending the required funding(said cuts also got the 3rd Batch of the Halifax class). Seriously what the fuck was my government thinking? More NATO SSNs could only be a good thing given the Soviet submarine hordes

The nearby wall explodes with the force of 5" guns at point blank range. Tony has his armor on and Vision is phased for debris to go through him in an instant. Laffey walks out of the room, her guns ready. She stares at them.

Laffey: "Cockroach. Think I got it."

Tony: "There is pest control around here, you know."

Ayanami: "Doesn't work very well!"

The shipgirls built in the US would be claimed as citizens. The ones built elsewhere would probably be claimed as citizens by their respective countries but they would be able to apply as citizens with any nation that they wanted.
