The RAF has effectively halted job offers to white male recruits in order to meet ‘impossible’ diversity targets, defence sources claim.
It has raised concerns that by prioritising race or gender over whether someone is actually the best person for the job, the UK’s security could be compromised.
A spokesperson for the RAF denied there was any row, but the head of its recruitment team is said to have resigned in protest.
She left her post over concerns that the new approach to hiring, however temporary, could undermine the effectiveness of the service, according to sources
Oh FFS, really...how many of our F-35 fleet have been unknowingly using foreign bits where they shouldn't be, if it took this long for this to be found.
I really don't know why we are still pushing ahead with the stated number of F-35 purchases. With the NGAD of the USAF and the FAXX of the US Navy we will have two aircraft that will completely outclass the F-35s. Add in the fact that projections are the F-35s stealth might be less effective before decades end. Yet they still want to fly this plane into the 2070s. Why should we hamstring ourselves to this giant 1 trillion dollar money pit. We can have the NGAD and the FAXX do the stealth work and have planes like the F-15EX and Superhornets do the secondary roles. The F-35 program is in serious need of revision.Probably all of the complete ones.
Yes very much a mystery...

You mean the gal on the right? Yeah, I look more feminine when I'm pretending to be my twin sis. The Admiral has to be cross-dressing for the photo. That is a man in a dress. I don't care what the Blue Check marks Reee about.
Multiple reasons. For starters way too much resources was sunk into F-35 project to just abandon it and there is too much political will behind it. Secondly both programs are in conceptual stage and there are no guarantees that the projects will be concluded by 2030s. There are also no guarantees that the programs will not turn into complete boondoggles. With the NGAD of the USAF and the FAXX of the US Navy we will have two aircraft that will completely outclass the F-35s
They'll also get slapped by the expensive "we want something which does everything" bullshit.Multiple reasons. Sunk cost fallacy. Just because you sink a lot of money into a bad project does not mean you stay the coarse in a bad project. And the Air Forces prototype flew 2 years ago in secret already. They are moving ahead with more versions. Projected production for the end of this decade. The Navy's version is expected at the turn of the decade.Multiple reasons. Most people don't understand the concept.Sunk cost fallacy. Just because you sink a lot of money into a bad project does not mean you stay the coarse in a bad project.

If they want the fighter they can buy it. We can go with the new projects and save a trillion bucks.Export orders.
Finland is going to be a new buyer in the near future, and Japan still needs more for their carrier arm and bases.
Cannot retake the Kuril's from Russia with out a few more 'helicopter destroyers'.

I see what you are getting at. But the DOD is literally working on a new countermeasue that kind of makes the F-35 a moot point anyway. They are working on a special device that projects a false image of the plane near it to draw off missiles. The Superhornets, Eagles and Falcons can all use this up coming countermeasure. And it can be added to loyal wingman drones too. That alone can save billions of dollars. As to the NGAD. The prototype already flew. So we could see a few of them before the end of the decade. The FAXX is still slated for the 2030s.If China goes hot, it will be before these future programs produce fighters.
You're also presuming that there won't be the same kinds of development overruns, cost inflations, and everything else that the F-35 and F-22 were subject to. Do you really think that the difficulty of developing cutting edge technology, or the bureaucratic rot that exacerbates it, have stopped being issues?
I can agree with you that keeping them in service until the 2070's may be excessive, but if we have hundreds of them in service for the duration of the decade, and the only thing to contest them in 5th-gen is a few dozen Chinese J-20's, that's aerospace superiority right there.
A design in hand is better than two in the bush.
Key word is ''may''The plasma Ghost decoy I mentioned before. Plasma “Ghosts” May Help Keep Future Aircraft Safe
