I'm remembering an old joke about "Is this person a War Thunder player?" becoming a question that intelligence agencies ask friends when considering if the person is trustworthy enough to be hired... I didn't get it at the time, but damn.

Its a difference in the target they are trying to market to.

If the army wants grunts, they show cool stuff to high school grads who aren't sure what they want to do with their lives.

If they want to attract women with relevant in demand skills that are harder for them to recruit for these days due to heavier market competition, they show an ad like that. Or maybe its part of some silly diversity quota thing. Who knows.

When I was in college the recruitment pitch was always that the military would pay your tuition. I was too out of shape to ever really consider joining though, and those ROTC people had hellish schedules. Besides, I don't really have the temperament necessary for the military.

Everyone says that about thier temperament.

And that is still the pitch. Pay for tuition. Free Healthcare. Better then that of everyone else because you literally get free.

Also, a lot of chances to further oneself and get a bunch of free shit out of it.

But that's about it these days.

And I am telling you from knowing how desperate we are for people.

It was pretty good ad though
Lol...sure, sure it was.

It just conveniently ignored that the slogan used is a recycled tripe that got played out over a decade ago, and that the 'obstacles' most people see in their futures right now are not anything the Army can actually fix or overcome.

Doesn't matter if the Army stormed Normandy or crossed the Delaware, you cannot shoot or NJP the problems facing US society, and the societal pull of the military is not so great it can overcome the widening social division in this nation, particularly with how the Pentagon-backed woke shit.

I guess the lonely white boy looking out the bus window at the end might have worked with some of the target demo, but the rest was fluff to pretend the Army can overcome any 'obstacle', including domestic politics/societal strife.

I have to agree with Zach. You are unlikely to ever decide to join so umm your oppinion is not important. The Army should look at it's target demographics see who it can convince, what sort of incentives those type of people like, and if it's possible the army can try to offer that to entice them.
