Did those worse enemies of his also did what Colombus was accused of participating in the slave trade?
Definitely man, remember lots of modern values didn’t exist back then and doing horrible things to those you conquered was considered ordinary back then

That's almost a garentee, and weird thing is a lot of the 'progressive' people of the time supported the slave trade because they thought of it as a way to help keep America's native population away from the truly murderous portions of colonial life and save their lives and of course 'civialize' and Christianize the African population that was brought in.

The fact that it was also in their naked self interest of course plays a part.

To be fair to them the sugar plantation system was absolutely fucking murderous and went through human lives like a knife through butter, but replacing one group to mass die with another group to mass die doesn't really solve the whole moral delema thing.

Then there's the more recent incident where protesters tore down a statue of Christopher Columbus and dumped it in the harbor. The man's behavior was so utterly reprehensible even by the standards of 16th-century Spain that the Crown had him stripped of his titles and arrested for it! Columbus doesn't deserve to have a statue erected in his honor any more than Leopold II or Saddam Hussein.
Fuck off. Columbus was a better man than any of his colleagues. He discovered America and brought news about it back to Spain. The statues stay, and whiners can go colonize Spain if they hate it so much here.

The nerve of these people, demonizing the heroes of the past because they are unPC, why don't y'all start digging up the graves of confiderate graves and put them on trial for slavery? Precedent for THAT is present after all.

'Progressive' people what a sick joke.

I honestly don’t really care about the historical facts here. This is a campaign against western history and civilization(some would be more blunt and say white culture and civilization but I digress).

Don’t give the mob legitimacy at all. Don’t concede that tearing down statues is a legitimate form of politics, or that western history and culture must be “deconstructed” or “have a reckoning” the moral authority should never ever be ceded.

Leopold of Belgium and I guess Pizarro would be two examples of European imperialism at its worst or most malicious-and I don’t care.

Their statues should be preserved, because they are part of our history and our heritage and the legacy of our forebears. Did a lot of awful shit happen especially with the Spanish conquest? Yes. Did the Europeans act with duplicity, cruelty, greed, and so on during the age of colonization? Yes. And even so, these monuments must be protected even the “worst” as the iconoclasts want to destroy western civilization and they use examples like Leopold as a way to get their opponents to cede moral power to them. After all if it’s okay to tear down that statue why not that one, and on and on.

These people love it when we cede the rhetorical and moral ground to them. Doing so means they just push further and further.

Here's the thing about cancel culture that I haven't seen mentioned yet: it's a double-edged sword.

If there's convincing and reliable evidence that someone famous is a scumbag then hell yes society should cancel them! Case in point:

No, Mr Cosby, you're not "America's Dad"; you're a rapist, and in prison where you belong.

My only complaint about the event is that they tossed the statue into the drink instead of melting it down to make something useful, like a lavatory.
Everyone's a scumbag; it's just a matter of figuring out why. Everyone's also a saint, and to deny either is to deny the reality of human nature; that we are all equally capable of both good and evil. Cosby's history of sexual abuse is extensive; but he also was one of the few voices in entertainment to speak out against the degradation of family values within the black community for decades. Does that make up for what he did to those women? Of course not; but neither does what he did to them erase what good he did do.

Cosby is both a rapist, as well as "America's Dad"; but before either he is a human being, not a scapegoat for anyone's righteous indignation. He is serving his sentence; let's leave it at that.

I chatted about my suspicions on Discord but I should've made a post about it a month ago when it first came out, then I'd of looked like a Prophet or maybe just a Master of the Obvious.

But it turns out... not shockingly, that when people alledged comedian Chris D'elia of sexual improprietary with underaged girls, like he originally stated in his denial, he never engaged in sexual relations or anything of the sort with underaged girls.

Of course, unlike the original stories, Chris D'Elia actually releasing the exonerating evidence was only covered by British tabloids like Page Six and Daily Mail and not by 'reputable' newspapers like the LA Times who helped 'break' the story originally.

So don't worry, Chris D'elia is still cancelled. His specials still aren't on Comedy Central, his television show removed from Hulu and Amazon Prime and every coward in Comedy is still eager to denounce him and opine how they didn't do enough.

Hopefully he isn't placed in permanent limbo for this nonsense like Louis CK has been.

With that said...

:unsure::oops:😬😱

Yeah, this is a problem I have with the...black and white, view of the world being pushed by all the activists these days. It's like saying one mistake is enough to make every good thing a historical figure has done meaningless. It completely ignores factors like the context of the time, literally judging them by the values of our time which simply did not and would never have applied to their time. I mean...the logical conclusion of such a...oblique, point of view is essentially the same train of logic that supports Hitler was a x, so if you're an x as well, you must be like Hitler.

Someone's going to be raped. Financially.

Baby baby ohhhhh.
I just realized that this means Justin Bieber is contributing to real reform of our current accusation laden culture. If he can set the precedent, then he makes it at least some degree harder to simply toss allegations about wildly.

So basically this means Justin Bieber has had a redemption arc this year? 2020 just gets fucking weirder and weirder.

That or he used his head, I think some celebrities are beginning to see that turning on WOKE culture would actually make them more popular
Recently he got back into religion praising Jesus. A sharp turn from the time he and some Brazilian chick he had a fling with got a video of themselves together.

Even if it’s probably some publicity stunt, I hope the guy finds genuine faith and it helps with whatever other problems he’s got

I may not like him, but I know he’s got a good voice

That said, he’s probably laughing when he realizes so much of Hollywood are essentially “paper tigers” and he’s getting cash and popularity

Daily Mail said:
A third executive, head of global culture marketing Florian Klaass, has also left after he allegedly approved a racist slide shown in a meeting earlier this year.

The leaked slide, shown at a meeting in Detroit, is said to have shown racist stereotypes from countries around the world.

Labels on the map allegedly said 'they do our laundry' on Mexico, 'they make our stuff' on China, 'evil-doers' on the Middle East with an arrow indicating 'bombs go here', and 'zoo animals come from here' on Africa.
Oh dear... :p
