When I was younger it always seemed super weird that there was 'so much' talk about sacrificing children among older texts.

I recall something about a mass grave discovered in the last decade that corroborated some of the more lurid claims made by the Conquistadores about Aztec child sacrifice. The Bolsheviks and their modern successors sure do have a lot in common with them when it comes to results, it's like they live to kill and mutilate children, all the while preaching about how they're saving the world.

If you know how to skip a pebble across a large still pond you know how to hunt. Children instinctively know how to do this and occasionally do it out of boredom with "how many times can you make it skip?" tossed in for good measure.
A baseball in the hands of a ten year old child can be a lethal weapon because getting hit by the 65-70mph throws they're capable of really sucks if you don't know it's coming.

Skipping a pebble covers the basics: a small and very precice relatively high velocity projectile that does what you want it to.
Chimpanzees can only manage about 20mph when they throw something and they're not very accurate.

Hitting a wild animal with a stone is much more difficult than skipping a stone over a pond.

Skipping a stone requires finding a rock with right shape and throwing it such a way that bounces off the water and continues on instead of sinking.
Little kids know how to do this entirely on instinct. A supercomputer using the best sensors in the world and optimized to select the right kind of rock will probably be a lot slower than a little kid is when presented with a random pile of whatever.
The supercomputer has to be programmed to do that. The little kid might randomly spot a stone arrowhead and start asking questions about why it's shaped the way it is.

It's funny but the more I look at it the less I laugh. It reads like psyop demotivator to me. Like, put on the special glasses and there are subtitles:
