On this day in 1995, Trump saved the NYC Veterans Parade and led as Grand Marshall, by "personally covering the parade's outstanding debts, estimated at several hundred thousand dollars. His gesture came as a surprise to many, and it ignited a renewed sense of hope for the parade's future."

It is true we are no where near the point where the military would consider a coup.

You need to be consistently fucking horrible for a long while before a military will do that.

The last decade or so would like to have a word with you. Because it’s been pretty rocky.

Look up how the left wing spanish government acted before Franco decided to over throw it to get a general idea of how fucked up you have to be before the army coups your ass.
murdered moderate conservative polititions, it was one of the things that prompted Franco to realize that the democratic process wouldn't work.

The thing is, given how rigged the voting system is and how much they control the MSM and are trying to control social media, I'd argue that they don't need to murder anyone to keep control. It doesn't help that the establishment Republican party is basically content with stifling anyone who wants meaningful reform. They're all pigs snout-deep in the same trough.

True, also they have murdered people.
During the 2020 fiasco there were multiple murders

I personally think the influence of the MSM and social media are vastly overestimated, The biggest issue is that most Americans are too risk averse to actually fight.

He also kept trying to repress the Catholic church which was super fucking dumb.

While it was mayor source of discontent, it was only the murder of Calvo Sotelo that convinced the fractious right to work together and many officers who were on the fence (like Franco) to join the coup. Without the murder the coup would most likely fizzled out like the one few years before, in fact the government fully expected it to be flash in the pan, that they could use as an excuse to fully purge the opposition.

"Ruined civilization" makes that poster sound a bit like an anti-Trumper. If you think that the whole point of "civilization" was to be a taxation base for the Venician merchants who had bought control of the Papacy, well then you probably do sob hot tears about how the "One True Church Against Which The Gates of Hell Will Not Prevail" (tm) historically crumpled like a house of cards at the assault of the Doors of Wittenberg.

Not really. Educate yourself about how doctrine actually was decided in the various Protestant state churches, maybe?
And about all the Dissenter folks who didn't feel any obligation to toe the line.

I think the stories of that sort of thing are over-hyped. People in the 18th Century "Age of Enlightenment" made up all sorts of nonsense about previous eras.

One of the reasons that nothing like the French Revolution happened in the UK, was the spiritual impact of the Methodist Revival. Meanwhile, Roman Catholic kingdoms whose rulers did not care if you were an Atheist, so long as you were not a Protestant, sowed the seeds of their own destruction.
In the justice of God, those nations that rejected the Reformation got the Revolution instead.

Everyone also seems to forget about how blatantly corrupt the Catholic church had become during that era, What with the indulgences and inability to reform. They had the warning of Jan Hus too they actually managed to put down the Hussites for the most part but ignored that massive red flag changed nothing and paid the price for it.
