I'm an old fan of the Lord of the Rings, going back to when I was a kid. There were flaws in the depictions of the movies, both the LotR and Hobbit, but they had the right feel.

They weren't insults to the basic nature of the stories. That's what we're all expecting from the Amazon thing.

Ah for me it was the hobbit. Dad read me the book when I was little. He used to do the three trolls lines by doing the three birds from jungle book. Honestly After the Shadow of War duology it's hard to break from canon that much more without making it another IP completely, still enjoy the games and the stories they told though.

the fact that many of the same people who worked on game of thrones, are working on this however does not give me confidence.

Yeah, the movie trilogy was flawed, but what human creation isn't? It still felt like a good faith effort at adapting the story. Important parts like Tom Bombadil got left out, and some stupid crap was added, but most of the story was there. And things usually do have to change between a book and a movie, the formats have different needs to be engaging and competently made. The flaws were easy to forgive.

The new diversitrash series are a deliberate perversion of Tolkien's works, done in the spirit of an ugly and perverted western world. Ugly perverts need to shit on beautiful things, to tear them down, to "deconstruct" them.
