White? I thought they were pretty tan due to having relations with guys from places with higher temperatures and already did a bunch of race mixing due to conquering peoples from other lands

Hell, if anything, I've seen fanfics wherein they're the empire that conquers the world and was multiracial whilst spreading roman culture and names
They and with people all along the southern part of Western Europe are tanner then those of the rest of it. For instance, southern Spain, Greece, southern France, Most of Italy south of ROme, ETC.

And in-spite of that tan, Hitler allied with them

I guess most people learn from Hollywood and think most of them all look white and such

Eh I mean, the left in general doesn’t usually attack western civilization pre 1500(the dawn of colonialism) beyond the standard attacks on Christianity and the Catholic Church.

The argument here is that this symbol has been “appropriated” by “Nazis”.

Symbolism, imagery, and historical references being used by the right is something that definitely worries the left though. As it provides a sense of history, community, and shared mythos.

I could write an article on how the attempts to prove that Middle Ages Europe was filled with blacks are an attempt to prevent the right from “claiming” medieval history and symbolism(which is something for the above reason they fear a great deal).

Same with Norse gods or whatever-anything from history or mythology that is European history and mythology being made a symbol by the right is something the left claims was “appropriated” (translation they hate and fear its use in this context).

Yes... because holding any sort of public event at the "Hallowed" Battlefield of Gettysburg is CLEARLY an endorsement or statement of affinity with Neo-Confederate positions.

Is this a case of CNN being incredibly stupid and/or ignorant or hoping that their audience is incredibly stupid and/or ignorant? Trick question of course... :sneaky:

EDIT:

And in case if your wondering Neo-Confederate advocacy being the reason Trump chose Gettysburg could just be a misinterpretation of CNN... well...

It's exactly what CNN is implying and thinking apparently.

Yeah, because when I think of a neo-Confederate "holy site" I think of the location of the Confederacy's most famous defeat.

Gettysburg was the high water mark for the Confederacy. After this it was all downhill. It couldn't even beat the Union on it's own turf.

But there's Pickett's Charge which was ... it was kind of like the Charge of the Light Brigade but got nowhere near actually accomplishing its objective?

Well about 200 of them did make it to the Union lines at a place called 'The Angle.' The two Union regiments there unexpectedly withdrew and General Armistead led the remnants of his brigade which was in reserve over the defensive walls. They even captured some guns to turn around but had no ammunition to fire so after Armistead was mortally wounded the Union reinforcements counterattacked and the Confederates bereft of senior leadership got overrun.

The Light Brigade actually achieved their objective, which was to spike the Russian guns at the end of the valley. Pickett's Charge aimed to capture Cemetery Hill, and failed at doing so.

People in general are bad at Grand strategy so flashy battles get the focus.
It’s like Napoleon at Waterloo. Historical illiterates thinking “what if he won and conquered Europe again”

When no, he was facing down an army in the hundreds of thousands including a half a million strong Russo-Austrian army, and mobilizing Spanish and Portuguese armies. Royalist revolts and treachery.

History is taught in top snapshot a fashion, the major events are focused on with the big picture context left out.

Exactly, he had no reserves, there was another Prussian army coming from the Rhine, Russians were coming behind them, Austrians were coming from Italy and French people really had enough of this shit. Ironically he had much better force available to him than in defense of France campaign, due to returned POWs entering the army, but that was all the blood he could squeeze out of the nation.

I mean the confederacy was going to lose anyway. Why does no one acknowledge that the south was already split in two and Tennessee had fallen.

Lee at best might have stymied things long enough for Richmond to be entirely encircled.
If he had broken through and won the day, he would have had little stopping him from getting to Washington

The Democratic party has tried to impeach every Republican president since Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Mostly False

What's True
Articles of impeachment were introduced against five of the six Republican presidents who have served since President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Mostly false?

As opposed to mostly true?

Really the pretzels Snopes will tie itself into to promote the left can get amusing fast. Here's one of my favorites:

THE CLAIM
Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen was a Democrat.
MIXED
What's True
Omar Mateen registered to vote as a Democrat in the state of Florida back in 2006.

...voter registration is an imperfect indicator that governs nothing more than which party’s primary a citizen is eligible to vote in ... As well, voters can (and do) change their political preferences over time without necessarily updating their voter registrations...
Just because the shooter was registered as a Democrat doesn't mean he was really a Democrat, he could have secretly thought Republican thoughts on the inside, or have changed his mind and become a Republican and just kept his registration as a Democrat for... reasons.
