Movies Marvel Cinematic Universe

Did that come out? The Marvels I mean?

I was just at the theater on Thursday or whatever... huh... must've not been looking closely at the showtimes.

probably for the best. they did a jump rope training montage during a sleep over. really trying to make a marvel movie for girls there...

Looks like there will be only one Marvel movie coming out in 2024 now, thanks in part due to the Writers/Actors Strike delaying everything.

And that movie is Deadpool 3, which itself will be delayed due to said strike but is going to get back to filming and production in the next two weeks. Apparently Marvel paid to keep the sets intact through the length of the Writers Strike so that if an agreement was reached, production could restart as quickly as possible. So instead of a May 2024 release, it will be a July of 2024 release.

Another Marvel film, Captain America: Brave New World was also supposed to be Marvel movie to be released in July but despite having finished principal photography (ie its already been filmed for the most part) it will be pushed back NINE MONTHS from July of 2024 to February of 2025, over a year away now.

Two other expected MCU films, Thunderbolts and Blade were supposed to start production last Summer didn't have scripts ready and when the Writers strike began last May it meant production would ultimately be delayed for the better part of a year. Thunderbolts has been pushed back from a December 2024 release to a July 2025 release and Blade from February of 2025 to November of 2025.

Also apparently Disney is producing a new Lion King property, Mufasa: The Lion King which is to release in July of 2025 as well.

The reason Captain America: Brave New World is reportedly delayed despite filming having been finished is because reportedly the film has done poorly in test screenings with several major scenes being cut and up to five months of reshoots to take place now that the Actors strike is over.

It's pretty clear we are in the midst of a media shift, for the positive. They've been trying so very hard to make woke happen, but it's not going to happen.

They're now trying to salvage what they can from what they had going already.

White slaver christians would be all his enemies. And they would vote for Trump!

The Native Natal Contingent that served alongside the British in the Zulu War Campaigns wore a red bandanna around their heads to distinguish themselves from the Zulus. Now they can have 'Make America Great Again' printed on the bandannas for the movie.

Unfortunately, all the cult members they put in positions of power within many companies are going to fight tooth and nail to keep everything as woke as possible; they're going to have to fire all of them before they can shift the focus away from producing propaganda, back towards making products that actually turn a profit.

I'm astonished. There's been basically no gloating over The Marvels' failure online, even in right wing spaces.
Because why would they want to? It's far from the Marvel franchise's first failure, and it has long since lost its grip on the cultural zeitgeist; there's no longer this sense that any of it is required watching anymore. So a lot of people just... don't; and the people who do, by and large, would watch paint dry for two hours if enough money was spent marketing it, and the title of the film reminded them of something else they enjoyed.

It's a tough one. Like, no shit it failed this a movie nobody wanted and nobody cared about so nobody is watching it.

On the flip... it's actually not bad. I've seen it. It's not top tier Marvel but it's FAR from the bottom. It's one of the better more recent entries.

It's alittle harder to gloat that a movie failed when the movie is actually like, pretty ok.

I would have to care about the MCU to gloat over it's failures. at this point something like 75% to 90% of people I talk to just say they checked out after Endgame. maybe they dipped their toe in to a single show or movie afterwards to check it out. but they usually regretted it. people are apathetic to it now. it lives if they can get enough people to get their asses in the seats. I got told it wasn't for those like me so whoever it is for can have it.

Destin Daniel Crettin, who was to direct the MCU's capstone film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has decided to leave the project and simply focus on the upcoming Shang Chi 2 sequel (he directed the first Shang Chi film) for the MCU and a planned Wonder Man TV Series for Disney Plus.

I think he's seeing the writing on the wall and is trying to pull back as much as possible.

The MCU is crashing and burning, and what used to be a mark of great prestige (to direct an MCU project) is now becoming a reputational "loose noose" that could tighten real soon.
