As far as I’ve seen, there’s not much of a difference at all between the two.
People who have genuine gender dysphoria do exist, but they make up less than 0.0001% of the world's population. You're unlikely to actually meet one in your day-to-day life for the rest of your life as they're that rare, even if you frequently traveled to every country on Earth.
They're just plain unlucky because fate rolled them a fail, like someone being born with a debilitating, rare illness or health condition.
I feel genuine sympathy for those people, especially since they typically want nothing to do with the current insanity and just want to live their lives in peace. Fate, frankly, fucked them over.
The trouble is that their condition and plight have been co-opted by hordes of groomed/impressionable people (especially teens, whose issues would typically resolve themselves in just a few years as they grew into adolescence), people (teens again) that think it's a clique/subculture, the genuinely mentally ill (and dangerous people), and outright predators/those taking advantage of the LGBTIAKitchenSink card (such as "Jessica" Yaniv).
When you think "transgender" these days, what you're really thinking is "trans-trender"... and the latter has become the colloquialism for the former.
Combine that with a medical industry that's profiting off the groomed and mentally ill, political parties using them as a resource to be exploited, and hordes of people who make their sexuality their identity (compared to gay, lesbian, and bi people who are, shockingly enough, normal people with different orientations than the fucking weirdos you see walking down the street in fetish gears) that are determined to prop them up? You've got a recipe for disaster, and we're seeing the results as they try to force the world to agree to their delusions.
Now that these trans-trender weirdos are starting to become violent? Destroying lives? Yeah, they need to be stopped. If standing against what they stand for, such as kiddie-fucking, grooming, and brainwashing, makes me a fascist or bigot, then I'm a fascist and bigot by their standards.
