Hamas Launches Offensive Against Southern Israel

So I’ve got a question:

How the fuck did Hamas pull this off?

The Israel border with Palestine is one of the most heavily defended on the planet. From what I know, it’s got cameras all over the place.

Yet somehow Hamas got hundreds of soldiers up to and through that border with (if I understand things right) no military response from Israel for hours? And they’ve managed to take Israeli hostages and return to Gaza?

I mean, if this happened in a work of fiction I’d be calling bullshit and author favoritism.

The leader of Hamas was in Russia not to long ago, while Israel is sending medical gear to Ukraine, and Biden did just give Iran 6 billion dollars.

So you might want to ask Tehran and Moscow how much help they've given Hamas to make this happen.

Might ask the CCP too, as the paragliders used look suspiciously like the same type the CCP have talked about using.

Well, that's that; Hamas has signed their organizational death warrant, and anyone who doesn't leave Gaza is likely going to be treated as a Hamas member as the IDF go through the place and wreck anything Hamas could use.

Announcing you're going to genocide hundreds of thousands of civilians when all the Arab countries around you are already issuing statements in favor of said civilians is a galaxy brain strategy.

That still doesn’t explain how Israel missed this coming. Unless those people started handing out invisiblity technology. Or Hamas literally bribed everyone to look the other way.

Good OPSEC. Gaza is a little islamic aspiring North Korea in terms of politics, media and information freedom.

Which is why this doesn’t make sense. I mean, the North Korea comparison is accurate; but if North Korea tried to do something like this, we’d see it coming a mile off, right? So why didn’t Israel?

It’s no like this is Iraq or Afghanistan and the enemy can do hit and runs and vanish up into the mountains. They managed to build up their forces basically outside the walls and launch an invasion.

Maybe I’m just over thinking stuff or am missing something. But this just seems off to me.

It is the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, and we all know how the jihadi's like to use things like that as days to attack, for PR purposes.

It's exactly as it looks. The IDF hasn't fought a real conflict in a long time. Also, the Palestinians are united for the first time in awhile; it's why Israeli commentators after the 2021 War were saying they had won the battle but losing the war and the proof of that is staring everyone in the face right now.

Which again makes it so damn odd.

Unless Hamas successfully gambled that ‘hey, we’ve hit them like this before about a dozen times, so clearly they won’t expect us to do it again because it would be too predictable’ and managed to roll the dice right.

Because if so, that is a DAMN good roll of the dice.

No, this is not 'we've hit them like this before'; this is Hamas's biggest push and attack ever.

The initial barrage had between 3000 and 5000 rockets launched, and the follow up barrages have been in the hundreds range.

And Hamas as never used the para-glider troops before, nor had volleys in the 1000s before.

Worth noting that, following the 2021 War, Palestinians are the most united they've ever been. This attack isn't just Hamas, Maoists, Secular Arab Nationalists, Islamists, and others have all joined forces for this attack so it's a general effort by Gaza. That probably explains some of the success, since in the past Israel could just fight one or two of the factions.

Would we? If they were going to use hard to hide heavy equipment like tanks and heavy SPGs, sure, but if they stick to small, civilian hardware and covert ops tactics like Hamas, probably not.

It is exactly like that, except replace mountains with highly urbanized Gaza.
It takes minutes to get from densely built up city to the wall.
Tough to look inside buildings, basements and tunnels with sats or drones.
Urban guerilla tactics, ring a bell?
