They didn’t they wanted an excuse to riot and bloviate about how evil the US is.
The worst part is that Louisville is a blue city with a blue mayor, which means the riots have full-stack political cover to do basically whatever they want. Self-defense is highly inadvisable because of this. As in Kenosha, if a rioter attacks you with a brick, club, or other lethal weapon, and you defend yourself with deadly force, you will be charged with 1st-degree murder. If a rioter is caught on camera trying to kill you, he will be charged with disorderly conduct and allowed to plea down to 7th-degree misdemeanor rowdiness.
If you live in Louisville, your only real option is to avoid protesters and rioters as much as possible.
I wonder if the media and their DNC backers can ever reign the riots in anymore. The newsroom can run stories about how the armed thugs threatening to burn your house down are only "taking a confrontational approach" and "peaceful protests" end in cops "being shot." But most people know better—even the rioters themselves know better, as they gleefully grab the megaphone and shout about burning it all down. It's too late now for the media to pull an "oopsie boopsie, only 9 unarmed blacks killed this year, haha not such a big deal after all right guys teehee." (If they even wanted to, of course—the press hierarchy is now made up of HR catladies who WILL be putting that sexism on your permanent record young man.) People are mad, they want to burn things and lash out. Who's going to tell them no?
I'm not even sure there exists anyone who could tell them no. Obama? LeBron James? Anyone who calls for calm will immediately be labeled a sellout traitor Uncle Tom—it's happened a couple times already. And, theoretically, these protests are all getting funding from the usual suspects, and could be cut off at any moment. But practically? That money is spread all over the country, there is no central planning committee, once you siphon $100M from corporate NGO schlubs and put it in the hood, that money could be anywhere. Most everyone has seen the video going around of "spontaneous" protesters hauling billboards and supplies out of a U-HAUL. It's possible that money came from a Soros-funded organization, but the people making the decisions are going to turn out to be local activist true believers egged on by a national network of agitators—not all people who will calmly step down. Is anyone even trying?
Besides, the nature of the media cycle means that some black person somewhere will get shot, and the riots will resume. Even if he turns out to be some gangbanger with a rap sheet a mile long who was driving a stolen car up a mountain of fetus skulls, they'll still hail him as a hero and a saint who didn't do anything before being murdered out of irrational hatred.
I don't think this situation resolves. I think the purity spiral will keep escalating until people are made to stop. That means a lot of arrests, trials, riots, shoot-outs, and a seismic shift in public opinion. That shift is already slowly underway, but there are still a lot of clueless white people with charity to burn, and until that happens the press will still print all the usual lies.
