Unelected judges, in contrast are a good thing. Judges need to make unpopular decisions, and I don't want them voted out because of it. Theoretically, they are supposed to represent blind justice with no loyalty to either side. Lifetime, unelected positions help with this. We want unaccountable judges, because if they are accountable towards a group, then they will rule in favor of that group. Have you seen some of the ads elected judges put forward? They are basically promising the electorate that they will rule in X way. It's horrible.

In contrast, prosecutors serve the state, and through that, the people. We want them to use discretion not to convict everyone, we want to have them to focus on certain issues the local electorate think are important. They also need to be accountable to the public because of that.

Doubtful. Kieth Ellison wants to nail George Floyd, because his job is on the line, and he hates cops. But the problem is that he may have given into pressure to up the charges. Alternatively, from some of the evidence we don't have yet, but Ellison does, you might be able to show intentional murder.

She was protesting alone, holding her hand in the air, and the only words I could deciepher from her speech thought the window. Only one beat up pick-up truck echo'd her as they pulled a U-turn at the intersection in front of us.
