Having unaccountable judges works only if those judges do their utmost to be unbiased. However, since they are unaccountable, there is no incentive for them to do so - and you can't remove them from their jobs, even when their rulings consistently suit only themselves or the ones who paid/made a deal for their rulings. Can you imagine the limits to your power only being the willingness of your peers to let you get away with it? The only judge I've ever seen being jailed for his crimes was one who was loathed by his peers - and he got a house arrest sentence. All others, no matter which crime, got retired(and the pension for a judge is the same as his salary when he retires). Most people would consider that unacceptable for people of the Executive or Legislative branches of government(as they well should). Why should it be different for the Judiciary branch?
Mind you, the situation I'm used to regarding judges is different from the one in the USA - in Brazil, the President has no power to appoint judges of Federal Circles. He appoints new Supreme Court members, and part of the members of the higher courts(like the High Justice Court and the High Electoral Court). This means that Brazilian judges are much less accountable than in the USA.

I'd rather have bias than corruption honestly. And if they are easily accountable, corruption is inevitable. In contrast, judges are mostly accountable to higher up judges, and to impeachment (rare). This keeps them in check for violating norms.
Just say that you employ black people, cause apparently that's racist.
I can say I am in charge of them, probably worse in their eyes.

Problem here is there are a lot of biased judges and corrupt judges. And while I agree that judges shouldn't be easily removed, having them be virtually untouchable means you're replacing one sort of tyrant for another.

Police have guns. Guns are a sort of weapon. Weapons are barbaric and can kill.
All those Right Wingers who own guns are a bunch of barbarians who aren't enlightened and can be trusted like us.....erm, we can trust those criminal gangs, they're pragmatic and maybe have a sense of honor unlike "the real criminals"
In the US, judges aren't corrupt, or even horribly biased. So that's just not true.
