War is Peace
Thanks,master ! ;)
Now,i knew what kind of womans are no-go territory.
But - still like blondies in uniforms! if Putin send me few,he could take entire Europe, not only Ukraine!

Someday someone is going to realize that sending an army of attractive women in uniform will be a highly effective method of conquest if the amount of simps are any indication.

So, I saw a few episodes of the new Gundam, now with added yuri.

After dropping IBO because of boredom I might give this one a chance. While I am sceptical of all things Gundam this is still better than 00 and more fast-paced than Zeta, though.

IBO had polygamy, and now this. Feels like Gundam is going down the fetish train for some reason.

I might check out Witch from Mercury, but I hope it does something really different. I've seen almost everything Gundam and they're all the same story of "Earth Federation oppresses space colonies and incites a revolution that causes a devastating war that is fought by robots with lasers". At least IBO expanded the setting to other planets in the solar system and ditched the lightshow lasers in favor of crunchy melee combat.

From the sound of things, Witch from Mercury seems to be an attempt to mashup G Gundam with Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Polygamy actually makes sense for a setting where 1/4 of the human race dies and what's left is focused on rebuilding.

Like, when Paraguay or Uruguay (can't remember which ATM) lost ~75% of its male population, how did you think they rebuilt the population?

This would also explain why women would be considered cheap, expendable labor for space transport missions. Because in a situation where a lot of that 1/4 of humanity was probably men of fighting age, you're left with a surplus of women forced into the normally high risk roles that the men usually filled. Roles that might be more valuable/necessary to humanity's survival than the basic "woman with womb = baby maker" paradigm.

Also, The Witch From Mercury only comes off as kind of fetishy because it's the first mainline Gundam with a female protagonist (although the Build shows had female characters as part of the main group) and it's fully engaging in yuri shipping.

Erm, unless you don't need wombs for babies young women are even less expendable if the population has been severely reduced. Men can fertilize a great many women of needed, women carry the one pregnancy at a time. Women of older age or incapable of having children would become expendable if there was a collapse in available males during a war.

@Robovski is on the money. Cervixes are the bottleneck of population growth. Frankly, nine tenths of males are expendable as steers.

Hmmm - how did we get to natalist policies in a "general manga" thread?

Paraguay. And it took it a century or so to return to pre-war population size.
It also helped that Paraguay was cooking the census books so much population would have to grow 17% per year to go from the numbers of the 1846 census to the numbers of the 1857 census(Paraguayan population per 1846 census: circa 250,000; per 1857 census: 1,337,439).

Eh. Kadokawa decided to be dumbfucks and suck on the ESG dick, so I have no expectations for the woke shit disappearing from ANN.

Saiunkoku Monogatari - Dropped

I watched this for 13 episodes. It's strange how the show keeps giving mixed signals as to what it is promising to the audience.

The narrated intro in the first episode talks about how the world was overrun by demons until one young man rose up to fight them, and gained the favor of 8 spirits. Eventually he rid the land of the demons and built the kingdom. So it seems like the show is setting up a fantasy adventure story about how the kingdom is going to be in decline and the demons are going to come back and the heroes are going to have to seek out the eight spirits to save the kingdom?

But then you watch the show and it is... a rom-com? I found the early episodes that focused on the romance to be entertaining. The characters are pleasant enough, the English dub had some charming jokes, you want to see the heroine and the king get together, and the music is immersive (same composer who did Twelve Kingdoms and Yona of the Dawn).

But then as the show goes on, the heroine separates from the king and becomes a bureaucrat at the palace, and the show becomes about boring administration. The show can't seem to decide what it wants to be.

The Princess and the Pilot - 4/10 (Bad)

It starts off okay. It's a fantasy Pacific WW2 setting between not-Italy and not-Japan. Then half an hour into the movie the princess is being flown across the ocean for the rest of the movie. About half way in, she begins trying to seduce the pilot. WTF? Lady, you've known the prince for how many years? And you've been engaged to him for at least two and have been writing letters to him every day since? How on earth do you throw that all away and betray him for some guy you just met two days ago? Yes, he saved your life but that was that. I feel sorry for the prince that his woman turned out to be so fickle.

The generals at the end were petty evil for no reason. Also, crappy 3D CGI planes.

This is an adaptation of the first of the Hikuushi LN series, all separate LN series set in the same universe. The Pilot's Love Song is the second one to get an adaptation, though this time its a full TV series. There's two other LN series, Nocturne of a Certain Pilot and Oath of a Certain Pilot.

They're all completely separate stories in the same universe with different MCs.

I may go back to watching Pandora Hearts. May write a review someday, but yeah, anime is amazing. The atmosphere is just... well... it can be really creepy. And the story starts off simple, but further you go, more complex it gets.

Unfortunately, it ended after only 25 episodes, so if you want the whole story, you need to read the manga.
