I forget where but the way it was described to me was kids can handle dark stuff better as long as it has a happy ending. I wanna say it was a paraphrase from John Bluth so if you want to show something rather dark you want to show that it too can pass. It can be taken too far though and end up with the media feeling rather sanitized.

What you fail to grasp is that I’m not just worried about my own kids in that situation.
I’m worried about the wider effect of that stuff on society as a whole. We don’t live in isolation: no one is an island onto themselves.

That's pretty much bull. As a parent it's my responsibility to expose my children to things as they become mature enough to handle them. It's also my responsibility to make sure they aren't exposed to things they aren't mentally mature enough to handle.

What you're saying is that's it's OK to show children whatever you want b/c it helps them grow...which means that it's ok for teachers to show 5 and 6 year olds sexually explicit material and then convince them they should be a different gender.

I'm not sure you've thought about what you wrote before you wrote it.
