Star trek fans aren't really that lucky. Picard season three was a anomaly. Everything else has been garbage and all the upcoming stuff is in that same vein.
And star wars fans got Andor so it evens out I suppose.

Lower Decks, Prodigy, and Strange New Worlds are pretty damn good, even if they have foibles.
That said, Picard Season 3 being season 1 wouldn't have worked from a story POV*, but people wanted that level of writing quality for season 1.
*You really don't want to do that story as a season 1 (unless you're only doing one season), because it would feel like cheap exploitation of nostalgia, plus you'd have nowhere to go in terms of characters and plots, because it closes out so many character/plot arcs.
I would say Picard season 3 is still a shit sandwich - it's just not a soggy one. SNW suffers from a lot of the things that made STD bad, which is to say that it is still poorly written and everyone still talks and acts like children, and that the only thing that makes it better by comparison is that it doesn't focus so heavily on a Mary Sue character. Lower Decks is only "good" in the sense that it's a parody and so it's being silly on purpose rather than expecting to be taken seriously. It also succeeds as a parody because it at least seems to be coming from a place of love rather than trying to act all cool by making fun of Star Trek, like basically all the other shows.
