Basically it's the problem of no-fault divorce laws mixed with paternity laws that are heavily slanted in favour of women in many western nations. So, many halfway rational males will take a hard look at the situation and decide that the risk-benefit equation simply doesn't add up in their favor.

They run into a problem and they just throw their hands up and declare it can't work and that's the end of it. People like that would probably be better off just hooking up for a while and moving on when they run into these issues instead of getting married, especially since so many of them have no intention of starting a family anyway.

Feminism maybe (though I'd argue it's the result of what's wrong with western civilization, not the cause); but divorce? The last time divorce rates were this low, it was the 1970s. Of course, the rate of people actually getting married has also drop to less than half of what it was in the 1970s, so that might have something to do with it.

I can hardly blame the younger generations being less likely to wed. There is not much reason to do so anymore for a guy and a lot of risk. I love how I own nothing of a house I helped buy and repair for 15 years and is now owned and occupied by my ex while I got to keep my pension and personal items. Me bitter? Why would I be? There were no kids, just a miscarriage along the way; I did not get to keep any of the pets. They are all dead now anyway. At least I did not let it all drive me to ending myself and I have been much better for years now that I am no longer living with her drunken abusive ass.
