he's not lying, it takes skill to make those things shine, people piss on the old timy shoe shine boys but what they did actually took quite a bit of skill and for the most part outside of the milatary its a lost art.

Yeah but they tend to over focus on it or the officers do especially during anything approaching peace time you got a bunch of wahoos in charge that think busy work to tire the soldiers out so they aren’t causing trouble is a smart idea. I personally don’t have any first hand experience but from some of the story’s I’ve heard they seem to take it beyond just looking well but together which is reasonable and into some crazy levels
