Remember guys, "Believe All Women". Depp's career has been pretty much destroyed, but that absolute shit-stain of a human being? Who has been proven to be abusive to all her previous partners? Yeah, she's pretty much getting away scott-free. She's still being hired for film roles, for fuck's sake.

You even still have "feminists" and simps still defending her, despite everything that's come out.

Frankly, we can't let it happen because it's a step that no side should be allowed to take.
Letting this happen sends a message that you aren't allowed to hold office if you don't hold the "correct" views no matter how much support you have, which is pretty much the antithesis of democracy.

If convicted of a crime and incarcerated isn't necessarily enough to disqualify someone from elected office, personal views shouldn't even be on the list.

See, fr'ex, this guy (he's not the only one):

Facebook post by MTG in which she blamed pretty bad California forest fires on space lasers owned by the Rothchilds. She claims she doesn't know they were jewish, but that's still pretty bad just on straight crazy level (she didn't claim it was a joke, for example).
I have covered this before.

Jews: real
Space: real
Lasers: real
Jewish space lasers: duh. Real.

I.. uh... okay.

The whole Jewish Space Laser thing feels like the media twisted a random Alex Jones conspiracy into something far worse. It takes a huge amount of effort to find the actual source of the comment from her Facebook back in 18 which strikes me as odd because why would the smoking gun be hidden?

After some research you can find the source of it, and you can tell it's not as insane as they make it sound but more of a average schizo conspiracy theory bringing up how many powerful companies stand to win a lot of money from it. None of it was actually anti-semitic but crying it is a default trigger for quick outrage.

I mean, sometimes a coinquidink is a coincidence, but sometimes it's a coinquidink. And when you get three at once it gets pretty sussy.

I mean, the space lasers is a bit weird because I'm pretty sure wireless energy wouldn't look like a laser... though if you were beaming it all in one place it probably could start fires.

I wouldn't be willing to say that Gov Brown actively set the fire, but I wouldn't be terribly stunned to learn that California's shit forest management is somewhat intentional.

No...
I was saying what I had read and what they are saying they were doing to try and stop her.
Why do yall think I am agreeing with it?
Just as people know what to expect of me, so did your past posts indicate a mindless support for the glowies and thus, by extension, the deep state. Everytime someone posts something even midly critical of the agencies, you come in and start justifying and defending their actions.

Or maybe we just think that space travel being so expensive is as much a quality of there just not really being many reasons to do it and that it's reasonably likely that things can get much much cheaper pretty quickly if we actually wind up with a need for it. And that it's generally getting cheaper anyway.

I don't think anyone's claimed it is immediately practical, but a proof of concept for the thing would, in and of itself, be a threat to "the petrodollar" in that worldview.

And again, while there are problems, none of them are core issues with the basic concept the way ground solar's limits are. If the transmission gets solved in any of the several possible ways, the only remaining barrier is cost, and cost is NEVER a long term barrier.

...No, the problem with the cost of space travel is not because there's 'just not really being many reasons to do it.'

It comes from something called the Tyranny of the Rocket Equation, and until we can get around that, instead of just make incremental efficiency improvements, things will always be bloody expensive.

On top of that, trillions of dollars of infrastructure in space, decades in the future, to take over one of the functions that oil fills, which it already competes with coal, nuclear, and lesser power sources for, is not a threat to the petrodollar. The foundation of the petrodollar is how cheap it is to pump oil compared to other options, especially out of Saudi Arabia.

And something that needs billions of dollars of research, before the technology to do it even exists, then trillions of dollars of infrastructure to make it, is not a threat when the Saudis are entirely capable of pumping oil at 40$ a barrel, probably less.

You might as well run a pipeline to the sun, and use it for solar-thermal power. That's about how practical what you're proposing is right now, and any time in the next few decades.

Essentially, nuclear is our best option for the time being. Spend the same amount you would for orbital solar on nuclear power stations, and your energy needs are somewhat sorted for the next ten thousand years.

More or less.
Well obviously, that's one of the reasons I think every green party is a scam, if we were willing to go nuclear we'd already be off coal.

I'm so pro nuclear I might even consider voting for a green if they adopted a pro nuclear stance.

The obvious best energy choice is nuclear and no one will support it. It's infuriating.

A nuclear powered world will take us to the next stage of tech and development, and eliminate climate concerns.
