Probably the weirdest thing to realize about modern academia is that this is not the case for most fields. Oh sure, the diversity hires leave you with dead weight in bad scientists, but the sheer distance between the logic in use in stuff like particle physics or geology and what has a meaningful party line means that most science is minimally affected by DIE shenanigans. Even in biology and meteorology, it's strangely well-contained to very specific subsets.College does not produce scientists, it literally can't produce scientists.
Science requires genius and creativity. And college stifles creativity.
What it can produce is sheep with a diploma who repeat the govt party line while wearing a scientist costume.
What ultimately ends up happening is that most scientists are very narrowly focused, rarely bothering to get in the way of The Narrative because there's a bunch of unnecessary tangential connections to do that. So we keep getting evidence for counter-claims to The Narrative all over the place, because the people generating that evidence don't think about what it implies for other fields or wider society.
