Election 2020 Election Fraud: Let's face it, this year will be a shitshow

adding to what our resident ancient Egyptian crocodile god @Sobek said; if you think the Dems, MSM and GOP establishment won’t do to DeSantis exactly what they did to Trump, you are sadly mistaken. Only they’ll have an arguably easier time, because DeSantis doesn’t have as many years proving them wrong.

Also if they were to get DeSantis in and NOT do that? I’d be deeply suspicious.

Edit: Trump is no more on the fringe politically then DeSantis is; or at least no by much.
This notion that they can do to DeSantis what they did to Trump and be more successful is ridiculous.

An easier time because less years proving them wrong? DeSantis has been governor in Florida proving them wrong for as long or longer than Trump was president.

And here's a huge reason why it won't be easier: DeSantis is a cleaner, sharper, more politically wise version of Trump. They'll try it. They'll fail. It'll work on their base, but the independents will see through it.

The metaphor I like to use is, they'll try to shoot DeSantis too, but Trump routinely loaded the gun and handed it to them. He never knew when to just shut the fuck up, and he gave them the majority of their ammo with the stupid fucking bullshit he would consistently spew out. DeSantis does NOT have this problem, and has a solid track record of fighting and winning against the woke culture warriors.

I'll never get how people are calling DeSantis establishment. It makes no fucking sense whatsoever, seeing as his track record at fighting woke culture is solid and successful.

Just because he's not Trump doesn't mean he's some uniparty establishment candidate. Just because the GOP establishment seems to prefer him doesn't mean that either. You want to know why they prefer him? The same reason that I do. I want democrats to lose. I'll reluctantly vote for Trump is it comes down to it, but i like DeSantis a whole lot better, and hes got a solid fucking background to demonstrate how he'd govern.

It matters to primary voters though. I think they're increasingly fed up with catering to the tastes of filthy moderates, even if following their heart costs them elections.
Calling the one guy fighting and winning against the woke culture war a moderate is also ridiculous

Bush Jr. was so miqueltoast that he refused to go on the offense at all. He thought it was beneath the office of the presidency.

They were still calling him Hitler, fascist, blaming him for the Dem's screwups as usual, calling him a shill for big oil, after he was out blamed him for Obama's screwups, 'Bush lied kids died,' etc, etc, etc.

They have done this to every Republican president and presidential nominee for eighty years.

And he won two elections and had plenty of moderate support.

That shit didn't work as well against him because he wasn't giving them new ammo on a daily basis the way that Trump does.

The best thing Trump can do for himself is shut up once in a while.

Trump won more votes in the second election than the first, including people who voted for Hillary in 2016.

He also didn't have Bush's electoral advantage in being a wartime president.

Which is why primary appeal should never be mistaken for general election chances, and why the people who vote in primaries need to think about the general election when the nominate people, not just the 'preaching to the choir' crowd's desires.
They need to ... if they still care about winning general elections in national/statewide races.
So what are the bets that next year's election gets an even more impossibly high number? Like 100 million votes for blue, or something like that?
I'll bet against. But just for fun, are you thinking both numbers will be inflated like 100 to 90 million, or one-sided?

Although regarding impossibility, a 6-point increase in turnout is eyebrow raising but we still only got 2/3 of the total electorate. Increasing another 6 points would be more suspicious, especially since turnout in 2022 didn't increase above 2018's historic jump.

See, part of me thinks a large part of the Right would rather lose and stay oppressed and out of power, than admit they need the middle more than the middle needs them. It's part of the reason for the hate on DeSantis; he isn't Trump and isn't an accerationists wet dream, he's someone who might try to govern instead of just be a egotistical bull in a china shop.

Particularly those who only want the GOP to pander to the accelerationist/hard core GOP crowd and just dismiss and insult the middle.

The fringe never likes it when those in the middle call them out for making things worse and reminding the fringe that it is the middle which decides elections.

What fucking "accelerationism" dude? The whole point of appeal for Trump at the moment is he is a populist reactionary wanting to undo a bunch of woke progress shit. The fact you think undoing the damage is radical and want someone who will do it slowly shows how much you have already given up.

Again: the "middle" you appeal to is a fake, setup by the left to make it sound like a compromise that gives them all the positives and us all the negatives. It's gun control logic taken to all aspects of public policy. "I want this, you don't, so we compromise and do just half of what I want. Then we can arguw about doing more later and repeat this."

What exactly does DeSantis offer in terms of conservatism here? You entire point was he is "Trump without the baggage" but now you are saying he is "not as hardcore" which undermines that point fully.

The Parental Rights bill was great. I am fully on board with praising him for pushing that. Even if it doesn't go far enough to stop grooming it is a important first step. But look at how hard the media bullied him for it, how hard FL DNC fought it and only lost due to them being in a historical low there. Do you think that sort of thing would fly on the Federal level? Do you think they would let DeSantis even get close to it?

Think motherfucker.

To be fair, they didn't let Trump accomplish much either; in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think it is accelerationism. it is just accepting that they are not hurting enough to want change. they are comfortable with the DNC. they have been told their whole lives that everything is the fault of the GOP. even if most of their issues are actually either passed in a bipartisan manner or are really locally controlled dem cities or states fucking them over. if they haven't realized it yet odds are they won't. most people who desantis appeals to that trump doesn't are just the less than 5% never trump republicans who have already left the party. the moderates and centrists? they aren't going to come over.

Politics is a sphere, there are two middles.

The upper class middle see politics as a distraction to divide people and make them easier to exploit.

The lower class middle are those two uninterested, busy, or just plain dumb to get into politics. These are the people Trump spoke to. He is fluent in the language of uneducated yokels due to his work in the wrestling industry, and was amble to explain his politics in a way they could understand and be interested in.

I have thought, and guess what, 90% of what Trump did/tried to do either didn't stick after he left, or was never effective to begin with.

And SCOTUS was less Trump and more Graham and McConnell.

Trump was only good as a bull in a china chop that made the elite and Dems drop the mask on things, he wasn't effective at actually governing or accomplishing much that was lasting.

The populism Trump embodied is not dead, far from it, however DeSantis is far, far more effective at actually accomplishing shit via gov mechanism, rather than think a tweet or off-the-cuff remark was good enough to create policy around, like Trump tried to on multiple occasions.

I think this is a naive view point that writes off a large part of the population, the part most key to actually winning elections, as too dumb to deal with, and is effectively saying the GOP has no hope for anything but local gains in the future.
