I think the dems panicked and fucked up.
Losing this election would have been bad for them yes, it would have led to a democrat civil war and the party would be out of commission for 2-4 years, its the same process the GOP went through after dubya fucked up all the things. The dems could easily survive that and come out the other side.
Yes some of their institutional power like big tech would be reduced but the party would be just fine.
Cheating and then getting caught red handed, that's the worst possible outcome for them.

Cherico, you have just provided something that affirms my choice in philosophy or philosophic direction. And that reminds me I should look into stoicism, because a good amount of stoicism prevents such things.
And, further if that is the case, it is tragic in a way. Since by letting their own cares get the better of them, they have irrecoverably damaged the American Republic and irrevocably tarnished their party. And they have damaged the legacy of some good men, and some great men, and some men who are both.
