Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

Personally, I think our not on topic argument has a good effect. The trolls are gone for now anyway.

Who knew that libertarianism was so effective in stopping the spread of cancer. Truly a great day for science.

I suppose a better thread would be ideology and theory-right wing praxis.

You know what, I'll make the thread.

Good, I'll be there. But I might have to swing by later, want to get some project work done.

Friendly Reminder: Stating that certain people not being welcome here for their politics is certainly improper and even if not intended, sounds like you are speaking for the rest of the board. 'Avowed Socialists' are welcome to post here.
That sort of raises the question of whether any leftist could have any credibility with you.
An avowed socialist like you never could get credibility here.

You've even admitted you want your side to harness identity politics as a means to getting your socialist revolution.

You are our enemy, and we will not forget it.

Well, we're both Americans, are we not? Surely we have some common goals.
'Enemies foreign and domestic' ring a bell?

You and people like you are our enemies, regardless of nationality.
I am not sure. I think there are people distinctly on the left who are decent members of the community.
There are some decent people on the Left.

Avowed socialists are not among them.

And the Left have berated Trump when he made the very same comment you made I believe?

I'm sure there are. Hell, I was a lefty once but I believe in free speech and actual action against the corporations unlike the current Left who don't believe in either and actively suck off to the corporates.

But the fact of the matter is that everything has come down to winner and losers. The Left spouted bullshit about market place of ideas and we can work together and equality. But its all bullshit. The Left never ever intended any of it.

Of course you can have credibility, come here and discuss with us in good faith. Be a good member of the community and so on.

You know normal people things.
Indeed, which I've tried to do. But our disagreements about the election seem to be an extremely harsh matter.

Also, there seems to be disagreement on this point.

I disagree with libertarians onsome key issues, but with regard to big business, I think that they have generally been more willing to set themselves at odds with big business than the mainstream of the GOP. Since libertarians would oppose so many of the programs and regulations which benefit the super-rich at the expense of everybody else.

My main issue with libertarians is immigration, which if allowed unabated would undermine the very goals that libertarians espouse. Other than that, they’re better than the GOP, and even so only after Trump influenced the party.

Not that it matters, they aren’t really a significant factor in modern US politics.

Anchovy’s not really a centralist though is he? Having a mix of conservative and liberal views is different from being in the middle.
He tries really, really hard to come across as a reasonable person in a debate; but that's always been merely a tactic, not who he actually is as a person. He's not a centrist; he just thinks portraying himself as one will convince you to take his arguments more seriously.

No, I don’t see any evidence for that.
And you never will because, accusations of you holding the position you do to try and protect your job aside, you've previously laid out how you think sticking to your guns in spite of evidence to the contrary is a virtue. Trying to argue with you about anything is a complete waste of time.

The weird thing is that I've seen leftists say the exact same thing about Anchovy in the opposite direction. The real truth of the matter is that he's both centrist and contrarian.

That’s an oversimplification of the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning that I was trying to explain before and how I consider only inductive reasoning to be really relevant toward sociological and philosophical matters.
