Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

"Trump briefly took part in a virtual Group of 20 summit, "= (3 minutes 17 seconds)

Utterly false?
Generally speaking, people tend to take part in such events for a lot longer then just the time they give fancy speeches in front of the camera (if only so that they're there to take their turn to give said fancy speech). So he'd have almost definitely been there for a lot longer then just the time it took to make that speech.

With that said, as a rule of thumb the big fancy meetings like this are arguably the least relevant for actual diplomacy or coordinated policy making. Most of the actual nitty gritty diplo work is done behind the scenes by the people in a country's equivalent to a foreign affairs department, who'll have handed the ambassador/representative's staff a list of bullet points they can use for their speech at the fancy meeting or chat and then taken over all the actual work after initial contact is made.

And that's ignoring the dubious usefulness of the covid conference part of that as anything other then an empty gesture by the people involved to show off that they really care about covid guys, now ignore how they're busy taking a steaming dump on all your civil liberties and tanking the economy with their response to it. If there was anything actually useful said there it'd already have been said elsewhere.

And killing your elders.

Honestly, had he not fucked up his covid response and proved it by catching it himself (then spreading it across the Republican party like a bad case of herpes) Trump would've almost certainly won the election, war time president boost + incumbent boost and all. Instead, he basically ignored it and whined about how it was covered in the media. Like, you cannot get a more sure sign from god than catching the disease you barely do anything to stop.

I don't share that feeling, and I'm not someone who is easily duped. I'd say that the left-wing propaganda about him being a conman is affecting your judgement and view of the man.

In any case, this subjective feeling is not something that is shared by most Americans, only those who were never going to vote for Trump in the first place.

1) So any other Republican would have made North and South Korean leaders meet, would've withdrawn from NAFTA, would have entered a trade war with China, would have sanctioned Huawei, TikTok and other Chinese companies, and would have made 3 Muslim countries sign peace and cooperation treaties with Israel, countries that didn't acknowledge Israel's existence until now?

2) Someone being similar to a bunch of other people hardly qualifies them as being repugnant. Unless you're implying that every Republican is repugnant? Very, very unlikely that most Americans share that worldview, seeing as many millions keep voting Republican decade after decade, and the Republicans retained the Senate and gained int the House.

1. A lot of these are blunders that most other countries have made, and would have almost certainly happened under any president, even a Democratic one. Nobody has faced a pandemic on such a scale in the past century. Blunders happen.

2. Holding "spreader events" is hardly a mark against him since the Democrat-endorsed BLM protests are ultra-spreader events compared to his rallies. We also know that the Democrats don't really believe in their own anti-covid measures (such as Nancy Pelosy not wearing a mask and ignoring all precautions when getting her hair cut).

3. Even taken at face value, at most these events can be construed for (fairly mild) incompetence, and will not cause the average American to be repulsed (except those who were already primed for it by Democrat propaganda).

The number of countries that reacted competently to the pandemic can be counted on one hand. There's Taiwan, arguably Sweden, China if you actually believe their claims, New Zealand... Even if I missed a few, it can't be more than two hands.

Had the covid response been better, or covid not happened, I agree Trump would have won by enough to overcome the fraud that caused him to lose this election.

The democrats know this too, which is why they wouldn't agree to a coronavirus stimulus/recovery package right before the election, that didn't contain poison pills that they knew would make the republicans disagree with it.

So basically he hurt your feelings, you gobble leftist propaganda, and ignore the same shortcomings from the Democratic side of the political spectrum in respond to Covid.

None of which supports your "Repugnant man who inspires loathing" claim outside of your personal opinions.

Don't get me wrong, your entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it factual or "correct".

Which is complete bullhonky, as the entire reason the response sucked was because of the Democrats from the beginning, not Trump. After all; they were the ones who called him crazy the first few months for wanting to take the pandemic seriously, and sabotaged his every effort to do so.

Indeed, the democrats have been blocking aid and relief since this started, just to hurt Trump. (Edit: not since this started, they did agree and pass a few bills to be fair, but nothing since before or early summer)

They can brag that they passed a house bill, but they knew it was something the GOP wouldn't agree with, and during negotiations, they got the GOP to DOUBLE the amount they'd consider, but Dems just weren't having it. Just to hurt Trump. So we get nothing, because they wouldn't deal with getting 80% of what they wanted, and didn't want to help Trump.

I take it you have forgotten that we are in the "Best Case do everything right scenario" for Covid deaths according to the expert predictions from earlier this year?
Aside from late summer recovery and stimulus, which the Dems made impossible, what more could he have done, anyways?

He's fast tracked vaccines, equipment, ventilators, and PPE to front line health workers, and banned travel while democrats were calling him racist for it.

People keep saying "he could have handled covid better," but they ignore that we are in "best case scenario" predictions right now, and he's not a magician.

What could he have done better, really?

People are mad because he had rallies, but no one was complaining about covid during the "peaceful protests," we saw all summer. He could have agressively shut those down, I suppose. Then the same people would just be calling him some kinda name for shutting down "peaceful protests." So there really is no winning.

He had to do executive orders just to put a stop to the impending collapse. Because democrats just were not cooperating. I don't see what he could have really done better or differently.
