And yet it's exceedingly difficult to get an autonomous robot to "see" something using a camera in order to navigate, and you almost always have to use a laser rangefinder, or ultrasonic sensors or something else along those lines.

A Happy New Year poster from the Russian state space corporation, Roscosmos. The picture alludes to last year's film director/actress duo's moviemaking visit aboard the ISS

A Happy New Year poster from the long-running "USSR-2061" project. The project aims to involve amateur/professional artists and writers by means of various online competitions and real-life exhibitions, financed via crowdfunding. The goal is to visualise a Communist future worth living for. The project's founders believe that many of the values of the first USSR were worthwhile and that they haven't lost their relevance today

Being fair, they made it into space before the Americans did. Give Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova their due.

Robots are starting to get disturbingly good at finding things. I can't help but think this ai is going to be solving captchas soon and spamming boards that think they're immune to 'bots.

The robot is designed to look for and find something specific on a page instead of all the clutter our brains sort through every day along the lines of "that's not important and can be ignored" and "that is important and it's time to be awake and alert" when we're taking a nap.
