Oh, it was most definitely stupid to try that, but the motivations behind the Falklands War? Yeah, I'm looking at Taiwan and China.

Most of China's population is growing increasingly unrestful, with resentment towards the government and corruption growing, and then you have the die hard Commie Nationalists polarizing things; their economy is in the shit (more and more businesses are collapsing), manufacturing and orders from the West are drying up, the pollution is reaching critical levels... It's a genuine shitshow out there.

Throw on top of that the whole "Chinese arrogance" thing they have, and the CCP looking to try to boost themselves in their people's eyes... I could absolutely see them doing the boneheaded thing and invading the "Rogue Province".

The thing is invading that land pisses a whole lot of people in the region off, and all of the talk of recreating grand columbia would make its neighbors nervious. If Columbia decides their done with this nonsense I don't think they would win that war.
