Depends on the martial art for instance.
HEMA.
It is effective against someone who is ir isn't also one.
Same with Fancing.
But they use weapons
Fencing is part of HEMA but yeah, since traditional european martial arts include boxing and wrestling, two of the most effective martial arts period. Judo is another one that stems from a series of traditional martial arts that is highly effective (and it's offshoot BJJ) and Muay Thai speaks for itself. That's almost entirely it though, and that's basically all you'll find inside MMA competitions and gyms (with a few exceptions like Sambo, which again is an offshoot of Judo.)

The rest, like kung fu and most forms of karate, are basically a sparring version of yoga or gymnastics. Even things like Tae Kwon Do and Karate are only really effective against other trained martial artists when the gyms that teach them widdle them down to kickboxing.

Tae Kwon Do and the other major Korean martial arts have at least some bearing that can go back to kickboxing and grappling.
I did a deep dive on Tae Kwon Do recently

I've seen the future...

It's claimed that a celebratory "flaming duck" cuisine dish was the cause.

Seemed to have been one hell of a big flaming duck to cause that much smoke. Was the 100 megaton duck flapping it's fiery wings and squawking and running up and down the whole ship??

Then again, there's this website claiming, it's wasn't a duck, it wasn't a fire....it was just the Chinese practicing a smokescreen exercise.....

(SARCASM MODE ENGAGED)
Really, because with all that thick oily black smoke it's common when the Chinese practice "smokescreen drills" on their ships and it supposedly happens regularly. Indeed, big black clouds of smoke reaching into the sky on the high seas serves a dual purpose, it can help obfuscate that big ship that with it's silhouette has already been visually spotted on the high flat open seas, and further beyond that by radar and sonar, and also tell anyone that failed to somehow miss that big silhouette, that YES, there is a ship out there!
(SARCASM MODE DISENGAGED)

IMPORTANT CAVEAT: Yes, I know, it's a landing ship. However, even if that theoretical smokescreen was somehow supposed to obfuscate the ship and it's offloading cargo, a vessel that size approaching a coastline to offload troops and material for an invasion is going to be a pretty obvious target for well, everything, smokescreen or not.

No rebar. Doesn't even look like any sort of concrete or hardpacked subsurface...just straight up dirt for a base...wow.

And on what assumes it looks like may be a mountain or ridge. You know, vertical surfaces, dirt that can easily form into rockslides or mudslides without proper support. As you mentioned, it needs actual concrete sub-surfaces that are reinforced with REAL actual steel rebar, not that cheap Chinese crap that comes off in your hands.

1000 people die daily in China from falling debris caused by the tofu construction. Instead of fixing it the government banned news coverage and censor all mention from their intranet. That number is twelve years old and things have gotten worse.
