China ChiCom News Thread

Although I will give her credit for going to Taiwan despite the Chinese threats. Because frankly it was hilarious to listen to Bejing huff and puff like they were about to do something.
Yes it was. That they ran when an Carrier Battle Group showed up made me laugh to tears. I noticed their weapons exercises and air passes dramatically slowed down until the CBG left for Japan.

What us it about

Basically, Newsom spoke about climate change at Hong Kong University, making sure to both pat California on the back for being a Green trailblazer (which is laughable) and congratulating China on its promotion of electric vehicles (again, laughable).

If that's not enough, he's also expected to sign a bunch of climate agreement goals with the Chinese leadership — and in blatant violation of the Logan Act, last time I checked. Maybe it shouldn't surprise me, but for as much as he sucks already, I'm disappointed at how yet another Democratic elite turns out to be a CCP shill. :cautious:

Wait, he, a state official, is making agreements with a foreign country?
I know goals and the like but....
Does he not realize that this is illegal for him to do, and the fact that this could actually lead to a national security issue if it invovles any amount of CCP to set up on his state.
We have a VERY important base out there.

Why would a Democrat be worried about Anerican national security?

And have been for....
What, well over 75 years? Or at least nearing that amount
They really weren't in the late 80s or 90s, but the politicians just would not let the Cold War bullshit go. Literally everything shy of actually putting to paper that there'd be an alliance waiting for Russia, only to keep right on with trying to crush its influence like the USSR never fell. Putin did not begin as our enemy, our leadership decided to make him one by ignoring the Russian Federation's distinctions from the USSR.

By they time Putin took over, it was already too late; if we were going to try and make them our ally, Boris Yeltsin was our best shot.

Tell that to the Soviet Subs that kept shadowing our Battlegroups back in the 90s and doing dangerous shit during that same time that could have lead to war. The Russians were not angels during the 90s. Ask any Surface Navy or Submarine Sailor who served back then.

Neither were we; we kept expanding NATO as if the Cold War never ended, and so the Russians understood that it never had.
