Googleing .50 cal pistol finds this:With large calibers, heavier weapons are better because they are less affected by recoil and thus place less strain on the shooter.

Flamethrower will not be enough for such level of heresy, even the heavy one.
Just screams "stupid idea" at you.Googleing .50 cal pistol finds this:
I mean, perhaps a 12,7 semi-auto shorter barrell rifle that can be fired from the hip/while in motion.Just screams "stupid idea" at you.
12,7mm pistols/revolvers are penis waving exercises, useless.
If a 0.32ACP/7,65x17mm pistol ain't good enough - get a PDW/shotgun.
I can't imagine such usage causing any serious harm, the gun is still going to recoil up or to the left (assuming a right hander).
If it did any damage firing it sideways, it was probably going to hurt real bad firing it normally anyways.
Guessing .500SW or .50AE?
I'd prefer a blunderbuss over a 12-gauge if I only had enough time for one shot at close range. A 1-yard diameter cloud of shot and smoke 10 yards downrange is not a joke.It may be an oldie but still a goodie, there is just something damn charming about a blunderbuss. Dunno about these three maroons, but charming regardless.

From my little understanding, it is POSSIBLE AND PROBABLE but would be VERY difficult to make a .50 cal weapon that isn't bulky and heavy, but then you would have other things to worry about. Correct me if I am wrong.

.50 BMG (also called 12.7x99mm NATO) is the big one on the left:Keep in mind that the Desert Eagle chambers a .50 Action Express round, which is "only" a .44 Magnum necked up to a 50-caliber bullet. This is vastly smaller and less powerful than the .50 BMG round that is pretty much always what any Westerner means when they say .50-caliber straight up.
For comparison:A more direct comparison would be this:
The .50 AE pistol round is much bigger than the 9x19mm pistol round, but the .50 BMG is on an entirely different level.
Left to right: 9x39mm, 7.62x54mmR, .338 Lapua Magnum, .50 BMG, 12.7x108mm, 20x81mm Mauser and 20x110mm
Croatian RT-20 Anti-Materiel Rifle -
In this article, we'll take a look at the Croatian RT-20 anti-materiel rifle. This 20mm rifle has a rather unique design which allows it to mitigate the recoil of the powerful 20x110mm cartridge.www.thefirearmblog.com
It's worth pointing out for clarity that the 9x39mm round is not a pistol round; it's a subsonic rifle round that is the Warsaw Pact's equivalent to .300 Blackout for ARs.
One of my homebrew designs before Pimp My Gun got killed via a Flash update. Used 6.5mm ammunition, used an FN2000 case ejection system, and fully ambidextrous.
