Modern weapons are just that mich more accurate and have longer range.

No it can't. A twelve-gauge firing slugs is firing a larger and heavier projectile with higher velocity, greater accuracy, and dramatically superior rate of fire. It's literally absolutely superior in every possible way.

Ive built a lot of AR-15's over the years and was thinking of trying my hand at an AK.
It's not worth it unless you plan to manufacture them or build a collection. The tools to build a single AK can total a thousand dollars.
