I see. It's more plausible, but it involves Clinton coming out of retirement just to play second fiddle. And she's not exactly a spring chicken. And it seems like an odd play to alleviate Harris's unlikability by pairing her with what I think even Democrats agree is the least likable candidate they've fielded in decades. If Clinton simply wants to boost the ticket it's probably best done from the sidelines; does it really matter where she's standing when she pulls the strings? If she's doing it for the power and prestige of second place, that I have a harder time buying.
I suspect it's Hillary trying to make another play for taking the presidency. Just because Hillary wants to do that though, doesn't mean the Democrat Party will let her. They already gave her a shot, served it up through dirty-dog party politics, and she lost to Trump.
