Big news if true. I wonder what cruise missiles NATO can supply that can be mistaken for Russian ones. Or if they're just going to slap Cyrillic stickers with Soviet imagery on a Tomahawk and shrug.

Soviet logic.They used the same tricks before,during and after WW2,USA buyed it,so they try that again.
They simply do not undarstandt,that USA pretended to belive them becouse soviets actually were strong,and do not pretend now becouse Moscov is second army on Ukraine now.
Indeed,they would attack Poland,but why? new goverment would be made by german agent Tusk,who is Putin old friend.

Just laziness. I've seen them fill dump trucks with land mines and just dump them in a giant pile on the ground. Then the conscripts that are charged with distribution use shovels and wheelbarrows to move them.
Their stupidity was bound to get past the minimal safety mechanisms in those mines.

It eliminated a platoon's worth of infantry, with doubts whether it was shit infantry or relatively decent infantry.
Are you trying to argue that enemy infantry is not a valid military objective in a war?

A rocket that is expensive and increasingly irreplaceable used against some very replaceable infantry in a rear area, as opposed to taking out a HQ, a SAM site, a supply dump or a barracks? yeah....
It's a platoon.
That is less soldiers to fight the war.
And it wasn't ATACMS. It was most likely a GLMRS.

If you can kill your enemy, do so. If you can kill them where they think themselves safe, do so. It will ruin their morale and fatigue them.

Sorry, we don't live in Fallout, ordnance in production is the definition of replaceable.
No one cares about barracks, they are not the magic infantry making building C&C taught you they were, in practice in a war they are wherever soldiers live, and they are the real target, not the piece of real estate they are present in.
The costs for Russian government to pay death and injury compensation for these soldiers alone will be many times higher than the cost of the missile, nevermind their training, and combat experience paid for with blood.

If true this could be a valid tactic for Russia. Organize groups of 25-50 soldiers in the open to draw Ukrainian GMLRS strikes and drawdown the Ukrainian supply of rockets for more important targets.
