This is an oversimplification, but I am referring to the miraculous privatization whose effects were not visible and which the Tusk government carried out by selling state assets left and right. Officially to plug the budget hole, well he sold so much that it should not only plug it, even generate enough profits to pay off debts. The problem is that this didn't make itself felt, instead many people around him suddenly got rich.
In short, he sold off the Polish national assets a which had survived to his time after the Barcelowicz era and its economic shock.
So, basically, he looted the country's assets Russian-style, except possibly to a lesser degree?

Yes, unfortunately, by virtue of being under the German umbrella he was able to flee unhindered like a rat from a ship to escape Poland more than a year before his party was swept up in the elections.
Fortunately, the most important assets despite his desire to sell them remained in state hands.
With that said, there is a difference with what Tusk did and the Russians did, he did not create oligarchs, but gave them away to foreign, mainly German ones. And he sold them cheaper than he could, what with the combination of the sudden jump in the fortunes of people from his party one can guess where the rest of the amount from the sale is.
Which, of course, is much worse, if he sold to our oligarchs it would be half poor. The money would somehow stay in Poland, and yes the property losses from this are as bad as if we were a post-colonial state.
I'm not sure if the money would stay in Poland if it was given to oligarchs since they could simply deposit a lot of it in Swiss bank accounts, etc.

Rather, they stayed in Poland, our oligarchs are at least sensible enough to pretend that they are not. They prefer to be called middle class, even if it is pure bullshit. Some money in a Swiss account would still be there, because it is and is now, but it wouldn't be as much as it is now. Especially since ours prefer the stratified sales method to parasitism. Only some try to make money from what they have stolen.
Do you think that Poland's recent demands for WWII reparations from Germany are in part due to Poland seeking to achieve compensation for Tusk's bad asset sales to German businessmen and oligarchs?

No, it rather stems from, first of all and easy to guess, the quiet Polish anger that their oppressors didn't peel off for all the evil they did to Poland and even became an economic power while we would have suffocated with communism.
Secondly, it is political cynicism, our government has long looked for the right cudgel for any German demands from Poland. (And which are called European Union demands for the sake of disguise. Though not always.) Reparations, as it turns out, are a very effective way to throw the Germans off balance. In fact, if the Germans had tried to pay them they would have very quickly knocked the anti-German card out of PiS's hands. But if the Germans want to be stupid, go ahead. It's even better for Poland.

TBF, Poland gained a lot of territory at Germany's expense after WWII, which counts for something. And in human terms Germany was (appropriately) more demographically devastated as a result of WWII than Poland was.
Good analysis. Poland also made a huge chad move this year in admitting millions of Ukrainian refugees and thus significantly boosting its own population.
