Armchair General's DonbAss Derailed Discussion Thread (Topics Include History, Traps, and the Ongoing Slavic Civil War plus much much more)

Must be even more demoralising if previous wars had this. You're out there getting your ass killed and back home there's people partying like no tomorrow.

Of course. That is why soldiers fighting previous wars saw only propaganda. Now,it is impossible,at least in this war.
Even Moscov could not prevent their soldiers from seeing what is happening in their homes.
But,if China start war,tey could /maybe/ only let their soldiers see clips full of cyvilians praising their efforts.
And,that is why China could /probably/win wars, and Moscov could not.

Becouse Ukrainians are defending themselves,so they could remain demoralized and still fight. When you need motivation to fight, which mean faith in people supporting them.
For Moscov now, probably only buriats still belive that.

In any normal war I am looking for a few basic needs. Food, shelter, ammo, good leadership and support from above or nearby. Not having all of those my morale would be taking a drop especially if I know my life would be wasted for nothing as one said on youtube when he mentioned the wall of photos of youths straight of school to IEDs in Iraq that kept increasing. He really believed in his cause and it broke him.

We got our supplies. No worries on that front. But our enemy had the initiative and could strike when he wanted. THAT was the part that we had issues with. Sure we'd go on raids and take them down, but still.

You definitely did as the country with a legacy in logistics. After those years though I'm starting to wonder about it all when all those billions invested came crashing down. Battles against armies unequal to yours like Desert Storm is doable with effort and good leaders. Holding territory for occupation is another since WW2 when you deal with unfriendly locals and IEDs while your people is averse to coffins coming back home.

Ya think? How many times do we have to interact you ask that question? I kept saying it and my opinion remains the same. Pity me mock me belittle me I'm a bloody know nothing civilian and my opinion on that remains ignorantly the same finding out this happens.

And it would be utterly demoralizing just fighting my ass off while a few kms back to safety is a party staring me in the face. Why would I even do a TikTok reaction is beyond me but no one is exempt from wanting to do trendy things and even in the military recording yourself for social media does happen.

You get it.
Um damn near all us that have served in the Military already think this is going on back home. It shocks none of us that people party when we are in a combat theater.

Is there worries we can't sustain against a peer or near opponent?

You're of sterner stuff than those tiktoker soldiers.

I do now but if that ever happens the peer opponent would let loose the nukes.

I'm unsure about occurrences like that in the future. I can see leaks now and then but standard policy would see a sanitized communication.
In the event of a ground war, our Logistics and NATOs in general is second to none. It can handle it.
That's why I don't truly know aside from the gloom and doom of ex glowies in their blogposts.

But a lot can happen in a couple of years this topic can be revisited.

Why do you shill leftist "comedians" blowing up behind the scenes rumors that they have little to no in detail knowledge of?
Sorry, but shitty progressive "comedians" are about the last people i would consider taking political opinions from.

It's not an opinion ?? He is reporting that in fact Kiev and Moscow where negotiating already in April and Boris blew it for the military industrial complex.

I'm sorry for your inability to tell rumors from facts. No, rumors shared between politicians and journos aren't facts.
Yes, they were negotiating. Unfortunately, the offers that Russia would find acceptable tended to be untrustworthy, utter shite, or both. So no point in continuing the charade.
Are you some kind of pacifist who believes in "peace at any cost" or what?
