That Putin himself did already, many times.
No not really he didn't, it is still just a "denazification" according to Putins rhetoric. Anyway the point is that the only real opposition or alternatives to Putin are also pro-Ukraine war and any successor to his right will believe Putins war was too little too late. Just as Biden is likely as hawkish as you're going to get in the US, Putin is likely the most pro-peace you'll get out of Russia (and I'm not all implying he wants peace, just that he may agree to some concessions while a successor is likely to want all of Ukraine.)

It never was just that, it was one of several spoken points, nevermind unspoken ones.

I feel like you purposefully ignored the rest of my post just so you could post these couple of links. I will state it one last time, the point is Putin is not being replaced by someone who wants the war to end, period. Anyone hoping for that fails to understand the politics at play here.

Of course no red blooded Russian el presidente will say he wants the war to end, but the next guy may well decide that the doesn't want the burden of ruling with the problems that come with the war not ending on top of the general burden of controlling that mess and solidifying his power, and so it's quite likely he will find an excuse to unfortunately have to get out of the war even though of course he doesn't want to end it, he's doing it for the good of the country and shit.

You may be surprised.

Pro-peace, probably, pro picking easier fights on the other hand, probably many people learning out of Putin's mistakes even there.
