Aliens and Predators Franchise Megathread

Oh, don't get me wrong, there have been a few gems in gaming since then, such as Alien: Isolation being an example from the A, P, and AvP franchises, but most games these days are either mobile, shooter clones, lootbox-orientated and dumbed down PvP games, et cetera.

As much as I think Fortnite is shit, at least the whole "build a fort as you kill your enemy" thing was pretty innovative.

But yeah, there's a reason why many people are now predicting another video game crash, only this time it'll be just from the big AAA developers' games that'll flop/decline and not indie/small time studios' projects.
Thanks for reminding me, I need to beat Alien Isolation. That game scares the heck out of me. XD

And you've got IGN, the fucking neckbeards, who gave that game a low score because you "couldn't kill the Alien". smh

Didn't they give a sailing game a low score because of "too much water", or was that just a meme? Knowing it's IGN, I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. shrug

Can't spell ignorant without IGN!

I know people are going to flame me for this but I've always wanted an AVP survival-horror game where you're forced to play as a human (a badass one of course) and battle the various creatures from the AVP universe both old and new, including all the iterations of the film xenomorphs both big and small, Predator Hunters, Predator Soldiers, goo mutants, new forms of alien wildlife or creatures the Predators have hunted, androids, enemy humans, BOSS FIGHTS, etc. Think like a Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve or early Resident Evil story and character-driven type of survival-horror/stealth game but set in the AVP universe.

A boss fight where you have to figure out how to kill a rapid-regenerating xenomorph/praetomorph with a gravity centrifuge would be sick.

Can't say I wouldn't enjoy giving a game like that a shot. Sounds fun enough. ;D
'Usually' the human part of AVP(vH) is that they have overwhelming firepower but the lowest HP.

Feel free to pitch that to anyone if you have any connections, as long as I get to write the novel tie-in and do the concept art :p

I know there was just a squad based tactical game called Aliens: Dark Descent released pertaining to Colonial Marines fighting Xenomorphs but that is something I'd love the mostest if it had even more allies, enemies and stuff going on.

Survival Horror game like this should probably deal with lesser amounts of combatants instead of more of them. Like a Dark Souls type of game where many combats are challenging ones instead of good old fashioned running and gunning. Using lowly xenomorph drones and facehugger types might be well enough, but Yautja/Predators and more formidable Xenomorphs should be given the miniature boss treatment.

Exactly what I was thinking. You could have a gang of smaller workers/warriors like the ones from Aliens which iirc are closer to 6'6-7' in height as opposed to the hulking drones like Kane's Son from Alien. My interpretation of them would be like bees: drones are larger in size and only have one purpose: to create a Queen Egg from a host, thus they have to live just long enough to accomplish this task, making them larger, stronger and solitary stealth killers while the shorter and stockier workers/warriors tend to and defend the hive and are overall more aggressive and attack in groups of 3-6. But yeah, the larger drones and predators would be more akin to minibosses while the workers are your easy-kill cannon fodder that can be farmed for experience/upgrade points to more effectively deal with drones and predators.

Black Castle Of The Star Beast by ErikModi. Alien/The Hyborian Age. And a great pastiche of Robert E. Howard's tone to boot.
Great and funny.Sorcerer thinking that alien would serve him,i mean. But,many sorcerers in Howard book made the same mistake about demons,so why not?
And,to be frank, better be eaten by alien, then by demon.Aliens,at least, are not interested in our souls.

From what people are saying, it's pretty much a spiritual remake of Alien: Isolation in a lot of aspects.

New trailer just dropped. Looks good! Can't tell much from this but I'm sure another longer trailer will be on the way soon

Eughhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Remember how the original alien film is so simple, so quaint? The scariest moment in the film is a fucking jazz-hands surprise by the Alien.
Now there's shitloads of facehuggers running about, explosions galore, people running around with not-Pulserifles, and so on.

Either go full Aliens where humans are gunning them down while getting torn to pieces themselves, or go full Alien and make it simple, low budget and full of subtleties.

These movies feel like they're generated by AI at this point, no charm, just 'hey guys remember the FACEHUGGER!?'

NO SHIT I REMEMBER THE FACEHUGGER, ITS BEEN IN LIKE TWENTY GAMES BY THIS POINT AND EVEN MORE COMICS.

If it is nigh-invincible like in the game I will consider it a spiritual remake of Alien: Isolation, but only then :p
The game's invulnerable alien is more because if you killed it, well...Game would kinda spoil the surprise that there are in fact MORE aliens onboard. 9mm AP rounds can put one down with enough hits to the head, they're tough but not bulletproof.

Iirc they didn't have access to those in Alien: Isolation, hence nigh-invincible :p

I see where you're coming from, maybe I'm more easily entertained than most people, then again I'm a fucking YOOOOJ Aliens fan and have been since as long as I can remember :p

I honestly just want a show/movie to finally do something with the wider Alien universe. I want to see Union of Progressive Peoples commandos fighting WY mercenaries.

I want to see the United Americans politicking with the Three World Empire.

I want to see UA Beserker cyborgs crushing an illegal Cyberdyne combat android manufacturing plant.

The wider lore is sadly under utilized.
