Aliens and Predators Franchise Megathread

Eughhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Remember how the original alien film is so simple, so quaint? The scariest moment in the film is a fucking jazz-hands surprise by the Alien.
Now there's shitloads of facehuggers running about, explosions galore, people running around with not-Pulserifles, and so on.

Either go full Aliens where humans are gunning them down while getting torn to pieces themselves, or go full Alien and make it simple, low budget and full of subtleties.

These movies feel like they're generated by AI at this point, no charm, just 'hey guys remember the FACEHUGGER!?'

NO SHIT I REMEMBER THE FACEHUGGER, ITS BEEN IN LIKE TWENTY GAMES BY THIS POINT AND EVEN MORE COMICS.


The game's invulnerable alien is more because if you killed it, well...Game would kinda spoil the surprise that there are in fact MORE aliens onboard. 9mm AP rounds can put one down with enough hits to the head, they're tough but not bulletproof.

The art of suspense and horror has been lost because most viewers' attention spans are so short they make DEI careers look like they have solid job security.

Yes, that especially includes American, and by extension Western like in the UK, audiences and movie-goers.

Ironically, it's why a lot of gamers love Alien: Isolation -- even on replays where you know what's going to happen in scripted events, the gameplay itself is random and suspenseful. Gamers love it.

I honestly just want a show/movie to finally do something with the wider Alien universe. I want to see Union of Progressive Peoples commandos fighting WY mercenaries.

I want to see the United Americans politicking with the Three World Empire.

I want to see UA Beserker cyborgs crushing an illegal Cyberdyne combat android manufacturing plant.

The wider lore is sadly under utilized.

I honestly just want a show/movie to finally do something with the wider Alien universe. I want to see Union of Progressive Peoples commandos fighting WY mercenaries.

I want to see the United Americans politicking with the Three World Empire.

I want to see UA Beserker cyborgs crushing an illegal Cyberdyne combat android manufacturing plant.

The wider lore is sadly under utilized.

Maybe some of us need to get in touch with those people who did the anniversary shorts and come up with a plan

Not just that, but this director also ruined Evil Dead by missing the point and making it a gore fest akin to Saw so I have little faith he won't do the same here and I've no interest in watching movies like that. Sucks cause I'm a huge Alien fan.

Looks pretty good from the trailer. I wasn't really desiring an Aliens movie... but I'm certainly not opposed to them making another one if it meets the expectations the trailer has set. Fede Alvarez is directing hmmm... I liked his take on Evil Dead and Don't Breathe... it had a neat concept it played well enough with and since those are the only two movies of his I've seen, I'm hopeful.

Its actually pretty unclear in the lore what the Arcturians actually are. They have been portrayed in various comics, novels, and ttrpgs as aliens of feminine quality, aliens that are basically 4 armed apes, humans who are hermaphrodites via mutation, humand who are hermaphrodites via genetic engineering. I believe at least one comic series has them as both the 4 armed apes, and the hermaphrodites.

I mean if we only include the mainline films (like a sane human being would), there's a few lines of logic.
1: Arcturians are apparently sapient and friendly enough to be boinked by frisky marines
2: They're attractive enough that said frisky marine tries boinking
3: Despite being male, they fool an otherwise questionably straight marine into boinking it

So evidently they're funny-forehead aliens ala startrek, given when Aliens was made, and the fact that even the Xenomorph as alien as it is in-universe, is humanoid in shape and structure.

It is possible,but....

X_X I mean that was what Ridley Scott wanted out of that film. One of the dumbest ideas in cinematic history.
Before Covenant I never would've thought a homoerotic robot was the inventor of the Xenomorph. Which in hindsight given what the Xenomorph does to people, kinda makes sense.

Given that in the very first movie, the crew finds Alien vessel that was mired for centuries, possibly millenniums with Xenomorph in a current form, it means that Xenomorph design predates any android shenanigans.

There were cut scenes in Covenant, IIRC, that had basically dead/fossilized Eggs. He was basically trying to recreate the Xenomorph, not create it.

Somewhere along the way, it got muddled in production, and Scott now being senile and losing his touch... yeah, recipe for disaster.
