Google's DeepMind says it is close to achieving human-level AI
Nando de Freitas, a scientist at London-based firm DeepMind, has said 'the game is over' in regards to solving the hardest challenges in the race to achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Personally I think they're overselling it a bit, though the fact that the AI creates lolcat captions and plays retro Atari video games on its own is pretty impressive.

Quite a bit more in the thread. The DALLE AI line was previously thought to be prone to adding gibberish to its images and was poor at handling text. Nope, turns out it just invented its own language and that gibberish is not only words, it actually makes up coherent stories such as the above farmers complaining about birds eating their crops.

Okay that’s amazing I wonder if they have people working on figuring it out I wonder what grammar rules it uses.
Man I read some of the paper and their worried people could use the language to get passed the filters that’s so lame this is such an amazing discovery and their worried about people getting around their filters that’s ugh where’s the sense of wonder and why can’t people decide for the program to get a little spicy.

The skills that are immune to AI—and unfortunately that is a wispy barrier—are the most impervious to mandatory formal training methods because they stem from innate passion or prodigy-like natural skills. Examples are higher math, theoretical physics, the higher levels of art and music, and so on. For these types of skills, I am reminded of what Edward Gibbon said, "But the power of instruction is seldom of much efficacy, except in those happy dispositions where it is almost superfluous."
